Independent Contractor โ€“ Residential Renovation Specialist (New Jersey)

Location:ย New Jersey (multiple residential job sites)
Engagement Type:ย Independent Contractor (1099)
Industry:ย Residential Renovations / Home Improvements

Opportunity

We are seeking an experiencedย Independent Contractorย to support ongoing residential renovation projects throughout New Jersey. This opportunity is designed forย established renovation professionalsย who operate their own business and are interested in consistent, projectโ€‘based work.

This role isย not an employment position. Contractors are engaged per project under a written subcontract agreement with clearly defined scope, pricing, and timelines.

Scope of Work

Projects may include all or some of the following:

  • Kitchen renovations
  • Bathroom renovations
  • Drywall repair, preparation, and painting
  • Cabinet installation and adjustment
  • Ceramic and tile installation
  • Flooring installation (tile, vinyl, laminate, hardwood)
  • Finished carpentry and trim work
  • Demolition, including interior wall removal or relocation
  • Basic plumbing and electrical workย within licensing limits

Independent Contractor Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Operate anย independently established renovation or trade business
  • Hold anย active New Jersey Home Improvement Contractor (HIC) registration
  • Carryย Commercial General Liability Insuranceย (minimum $500,000 per occurrence)
  • Carryย Workersโ€™ Compensation Insuranceย or provide a valid exemption
  • Maintain anyย required tradeโ€‘specific licensesย (plumbing/electrical, if applicable)
  • Supply theirย own tools, equipment, materials, and PPE
  • Control theirย own work methods, scheduling, and sequencing
  • Be free to accept work fromย other clients
  • Invoice for completed work per contract terms

Independent Contractor Status

This opportunity is offeredย exclusively to independent contractors. Engagement doesย notย create an employerโ€“employee relationship. Contractors are responsible for their own taxes, insurance, licensing, and business expenses. Compensation is issued viaย 1099ย in accordance with agreedโ€‘upon subcontract terms.
