The Opportunity:
You will support a mission-focused U.S. Government Intelligence Community customer as a Strategic Communications Specialist. You will support the development and implementation of communications strategies, plans, and products consistent with guidance and direction provided by the customer.
Your work will directly enhance workforce awareness, mission transparency (as appropriate), and organizational engagement through your Strategic Communication and/or Public Affairs responsibilities.
The ideal candidate is a skilled writer and communications professional with deep experience in public affairs, internal communications, and strategic messaging within high-tempo, sensitive environments.
Responsibilities:
Typical responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Provide end-to-end internal communications support to promote workforce engagement, transparency, cross-organizational information sharing, and a positive working environment.
  • Create and implement integrated communications plans for programs and initiatives to announce new programs, initiatives, news, or other significant activities. Products may include workforce emails, memoranda, articles, and printed or digital content.
  • Manage content for internal blogs, newsletters, websites, and other publications.
  • Provide executive communications support, to include guidance on effective messaging. Products may include executing internal events and drafting talking points, speeches, leadership messages, and key narratives for senior leaders.
  • Maintain and enforce consistent brand identity and editorial and organizational style standards in all products and engagements.
  • Analyze the effectiveness of communications and providing recommendations for adjustment or action, based on industry best practices.
  • Facilitate internal communication working groups to ensure consistent messaging and brand alignment, and increase collaboration.
  • Coordinate design and multimedia products to deliver visually compelling graphics, layouts, and digital storytelling products.
  • Translate complex intelligence, technology, and mission-related information into clear, accurate, and engaging content for broad internal audiences.
  • Deliver high quality products on schedule in a high-paced environment.
  • Support internal and external outreach initiatives, events, and exhibits strategies as required.
  • As part of the support to the Public Affairs team, you may also:
    • Support external communication services that help build local and national awareness, understanding, and relevance of the organization.
    • Create earned media strategies for both public and trade media, including long-lead, newspapers, journals, trade press, web media, and/or others that are relevant for specific the organization's goals and objectives.
    • Craft new media content and strategies for the organization's social media channels (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube), podcasts, blogs, etc.
    • Prepare media materials (e.g., press kits, background materials, press releases, speeches, scripts, talking points, testimony, correspondence, news stories, and presentations). Scheduling broadcast and/or print interviews. Developing media training materials.

Qualifications:
Required:
  • Active TS/SCI with Polygraph Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Affairs, or related field with 6+ years of relevant experience OR Master's Degree Communications, Journalism, Public Affairs, or related field with 4+ years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated experience supporting U.S. Government or Intelligence Community communications or public affairs program
  • Experience managing multiple customer projects and requirements in a fast-paced, diverse, and dynamic environment
  • Exceptional written, verbal analytical, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of the fundamentals of strategic communications, including the planning, execution, and assessment of key functional areas, such as marketing, corporate communications, executive communications, digital communications, technical communications, or brand management.
  • Experience developing communication plans and associated content for outreach campaigns, including messaging, social media posts, marketing materials, or multimedia products.

Desired:
  • Creating external outreach plans, managing large-scale events, and developing new partnerships.
  • Providing advice and counsel to senior officials.
  • Evaluating analytics - including web, social media, and press - and recommending adjustments and actions based on analytics.

Pay Range:
There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications.
