Job description

Summary: The Technician is responsible for maintaining injection molding machines, robotics, and auxiliary equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and consistent production. This role supports production continuity, product quality, and FSSC 22000 food safety requirements by ensuring equipment is properly maintained, does not present contamination risks, and operates within defined process parameters. The Technician plays a key role in supporting the Food Safety Management System (FSMS) through preventive maintenance, documentation, and timely communication of issues.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance on injection molding machines, robotics, and auxiliary equipment to ensure reliable, compliant operation.
  • Perform preventive, corrective and predictive maintenance on the building as needed.
  • Lubricate, clean, inspect, and diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and electronic systems to maintain optimal machine performance.
  • Ensure machines produce parts at required levels of quality, efficiency, and consistency.
  • Communicate equipment issues, process deviations, or risks to product quality or food safety promptly to the Team Leader and/or Supervisor.
  • Adjust processes on injection molding machinery as needed to meet customer functional and cosmetic specifications while maintaining food safety controls.
  • Record all maintenance activities, interventions, and adjustments accurately and in a timely manner to support traceability and audit requirements.
  • Perform tooling changes, production changes, and tooling maintenance according to established procedures.
  • Maintain and repair water systems, resin conveying systems, hydraulic systems, compressed air systems, and related auxiliary equipment.
  • Ensure tools, spare parts, lubricants, and maintenance materials are handled and stored properly to prevent contamination risks.
  • Maintain the work area in a clean, organized, and safe condition in accordance with hygiene and food safety requirements.
  • Support investigation and resolution of non-conforming products related to equipment or process issues.
  • Report any food safety hazards, non-conformances, deviations, or FSMS-related issues immediately to identified personnel.
  • Be available for overtime and weekend work as required to support production needs.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by Management.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • No direct supervisory responsibilities. Must be able to work in a self-directed team environment.


Work Schedule:

  • 1st shift: 06:45 AM - 03:15 PM
  • 2nd shift: 02:45 PM - 11:15 PM
  • 3rd shift: 10:45 PM - 07:15 AM

Requirements:

  • Lift up to 60 lbs. on a frequent basis
  • Push or pull with up to 60 lbs. of force on an occasional basis
  • Stoop, kneel, climb, squat or crawl on a frequent basis in areas with limited space
  • Use hands to grip, pinch, handle, reach, or feel on a frequent basis
  • Stand on a continuous basis and walk on a frequent basis
  • Possess manual dexterity and good physical condition.
  • Ability to apply formulas and mathematical concepts and to use them in a mechanical perspective or production quality standpoint.
  • Must be able to read technical drawings and diagrams.
  • Ability to define and react to problems, color variations, small imperfections, collect data, establish facts and draw a valid conclusion and decision during a fast-paced production level and adjust the machine or auxiliary equipment accordingly to meet customer specifications or IML quality standards.
  • To be authorized to work in USA - we participate in E-verify.
  • To pass a drug and background screening, according to the company`s policy

Educations and/or Experience:

  • Prior maintenance experience in machining, plastic processing or millwright is required.
  • College degree or equivalent is an asset

  • Safety glasses, gloves and other PPEs needed are provided in areas and/or tasks where they are required due to potential hazards.
  • Jewelry/painted nails/false eyelashes are NOT allowed in production floor.
