Job description

Job Overview:
APTIM is seeking a midlevel geologist for a full-time position to work on the Florida Hazardous Waste Cleanup Contract and other programs. The successful candidate will work in the field performing various environmental related tasks and, in the office, compiling data and writing reports. The position will transition into a full-time project management role. This position will be based in APTIM's Tampa Florida office.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
  • Execute various work scopes related to site assessment such as groundwater, soil and vapor sampling
  • Perform oversight and guidance for drilling operations and other contractors
  • Perform soil classification, vapor screening with OVA, and other field instrument operation
  • Document field work in clear and concise manner and photo document as necessary
  • Execute software modeling programs such as Surfer and similar software applications
  • Interface with Florida Department of Environmental Protection personnel and other regulatory personnel
  • Work independently and as part of a project team and be able to adjust to changing conditions

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in geology and have a Professional Geologist license or able to obtain one within two years
  • Related work experience of 3 - 8 years recommended
  • 40 Hour OSHA HAZWOPER training certification
  • Prior experience or training regarding environmental assessment
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong computer skills required
  • Must have demonstrated strength and proficiency in Microsoft applications such as MS Excel, MS Word, MS Teams, SharePoint Online, etc. and the ability to learn other software applications
  • Willing and able to work in the field and travel to complete work

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay range for this position is $33.00- $45.00 per hour. Compensation depends on several factors including: experience, education, key skills, geographic location of the position, client requirements, external market competitiveness, and internal equity among other employees within APTIM.
