What is an independent contractor flu shot RN?

An Independent Contractor Flu Shot RN is a registered nurse who is hired on a contract basis to administer flu vaccinations, often at clinics, corporate events, pharmacies, or community health drives. Unlike staff nurses, independent contractors are not direct employees and typically work for multiple employers or agencies during flu season. Their responsibilities include preparing and giving flu shots, maintaining vaccination records, and providing patient education about influenza prevention. This flexible role allows nurses to choose their assignments and schedules but also requires them to manage their own taxes and liability insurance.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an independent contractor flu shot RN?

To thrive as an Independent Contractor Flu Shot RN, you need a current RN license, immunization experience, and a solid understanding of vaccine administration protocols. Familiarity with electronic documentation systems, vaccine storage equipment, and adherence to OSHA and CDC guidelines is typically required. Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills help you efficiently educate patients and coordinate clinics independently. These competencies ensure safe, efficient, and compliant vaccine delivery in varied and often fast-paced settings.

What are the typical challenges faced by an independent contractor flu shot RN during peak vaccination season?

As an Independent Contractor Flu Shot RN, you may encounter challenges such as managing a high volume of patients within tight time frames, adapting to various workplace environments (like corporate clinics, pharmacies, or community events), and ensuring all documentation complies with both employer and state regulations. Flexibility and strong organizational skills are essential, as scheduling can change frequently, and you may work with different teams at each site. Building rapport quickly with patients and collaborating effectively with event coordinators and support staff are also important to ensure smooth and efficient vaccination clinics.

Job description

Nurse Practitioner – Men’s Health & Hormone Optimization

Location: Toronto, ON – Richmond-Adelaide Centre / PATH
Compensation: $80/hour + bonus potential
Schedule: Full-time | Daytime Hours | No Weekends | No On-Call
Employment: T4 Employee or Independent Contractor
Start: Immediate opportunity

An exciting opportunity is available for a Nurse Practitioner to join a growing private men’s health and wellness clinic in Toronto.

This is a great opportunity for an NP coming from primary care, wellness, medical aesthetics, private practice, weight management or another patient-focused clinical setting who is interested in developing expertise in men’s health and hormone optimization.

Previous men’s health or TRT experience is not required. Training and mentorship are provided.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to begin as soon as possible with training at the clinic’s downtown Toronto location in the Richmond-Adelaide Centre/PATH, before transitioning to the new Forest Hill location in October.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

  • $80/hour base compensation
  • Additional bonus potential
  • T4 employee or independent contractor structure available
  • Full-time daytime schedule
  • No weekends or on-call
  • Hands-on training and mentorship
  • Opportunity to develop specialized expertise in men’s health and hormone optimization
  • Focused patient population with an emphasis on long-term relationships
  • Collaborative clinical environment with RPN and operational support
  • Opportunity to join a growing private healthcare organization at an exciting stage of expansion

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Conduct patient consultations and comprehensive assessments
  • Develop and manage individualized treatment plans
  • Educate patients on treatment options and ongoing care
  • Deliver and manage established men’s health and hormone optimization protocols
  • Support hormone therapy and appropriate injection-based treatments
  • Build strong, long-term relationships with patients
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation
  • Collaborate closely with the clinic’s clinical and operational teams

Who We’re Looking For

  • Nurse Practitioner registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario (Extended Class) and in good standing
  • Strong clinical assessment skills
  • Excellent communication and patient education skills
  • Personable, confident and comfortable building rapport with patients
  • Interested in men’s health, preventative medicine and hormone optimization
  • Comfortable working in a private, highly patient-focused clinical environment
  • Available to work in person in Toronto

Your Background Doesn't Have to Be in Men’s Health

While previous experience in men’s health, TRT or hormone therapy is an asset, it is not a requirement.

We would especially like to hear from Nurse Practitioners coming from:

  • Primary care / family health
  • Wellness clinics
  • Medical spas / medical aesthetics
  • Private healthcare clinics
  • Weight management
  • Preventative medicine
  • Sexual health
  • Hormone health / BHRT
  • Concierge or membership-based healthcare

If you have a strong clinical foundation, enjoy working directly with patients and are interested in developing a specialty in men’s health, training is available to help you make that transition.
