Job description

Software Engineer (Troy, MI)
Summary
We are seeking a Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain business-critical web applications in a cloud-based environment. This role will contribute across the full technology stack, including back-end development using .NET, cloud-native solutions in Microsoft Azure, data solutions utilizing SQL Server, and front-end development technologies including React. The ideal candidate is a collaborative problem solver who can work independently on moderately complex projects while partnering with architects, senior engineers, product owners, and QA teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.
Applicants for this remote role will only be considered if they live in these locations: Arizona, California, Colorado, Washington DC, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Nevada, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, Washington, Wisconsin.
Please note - This is a regular full-time position. This is not a contracted (1099) role.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable web applications using .NET, SQL Server, Azure services, and modern web technologies.
  • Develop and maintain RESTful APIs, backend services, and business logic using .NET technologies.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of user interfaces using React and related front-end technologies.
  • Design, develop, and optimize queries, stored procedures, and data integration processes for SQL Server databases.
  • Participate in application architecture discussions and contribute to technical design decisions.
  • Implement secure coding practices and ensure compliance with organizational security standards.
  • Develop cloud-native solutions leveraging Azure services such as App Services, Functions, Storage, Service Bus, and Azure SQL.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve application defects and performance issues across the full technology stack.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications and operational procedures.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of development standards and best practices.
  • Collaborate with DevOps teams to support CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes.
  • Work closely with product owners, business analysts, QA analysts, and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions.
  • Support production applications, including incident resolution and root cause analysis.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 3-6 years of software development experience in full stack or backend application development.
  • Experience developing applications using C# and .NET.
  • Experience with React and modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL Server database design, query optimization, and data modeling.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Azure cloud services.
  • Experience developing and consuming RESTful APIs.
  • Understanding of object-oriented design principles and software development best practices.
  • Experience with source control systems such as Git.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Knowledge of microservices and distributed application architectures.
  • Familiarity with application monitoring and logging tools.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
  • Knowledge of security best practices for cloud-based applications.

Pay - The salary for this position is $125,000 per year. Actual salary is dependent on skills, experience, education, and other business factors.
