The Physician Scientist Training Programs aim to prepare physicians-in-training for a career of leading medical discovery, and application of new knowledge to improve human health. These programs aim to educate a physician-in-training to become bilingual in medicine and scientific research. At the University of Toronto Temerty Faculty of Medicine, there are four main programs in this area: MD/PhD Program, Comprehensive Research Experiences for Medical Student Programs (CREMS), Graduate Diploma in Health Sciences Research and the Clinical Investigator Program (CIP).


Your opportunity:
As Program Manager, Physician Scientist Training Programs you will be integral to the planning and management of education programs and multiple projects within the Physician Scientist Training Program portfolio. This includes preparing statistical and financial reports for decision making, conducting detailed analysis and evaluation, and building and strengthening relationships with project stakeholders. You will also be integral to supporting recruitment strategies and executing on program activities. Your extensive program and project management experience, combined with your solid collaborative, organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills will be key to your success in this role.
Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conceptualizing, organizing and executing program activities, including delivering presentations to promote programs andopportunities.
  • Developing plans that support recruitment strategies; reviewing and assessing student applications for admission into the program and providing detailed information regarding financial awards.
  • Developing project schedules including milestones, critical path, timelines, deliverables and reporting.
  • Producing complex statistical information, including providing advice and data to support the development of business cases and analytics for departmental initiatives.
  • Analyzing financial trends and preparing analytical reports and forecasts for management decision making.
  • Interpreting and applying policies and procedures when making independent decisions.
  • Directing the activities of a group of staff-appointed employees all performing a similar function.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum five (5) years of progressive education program management experience, preferably within an academic institution.
  • Demonstrated experience with full cycle project management
  • Demonstrated experience supporting program activities, from conceptualization to execution.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting student recruitment strategies.
  • Ability to present and analyze data for decision making purposes and to advance department initiatives.
  • Proven leadership, collaboration, and motivational skills, including the ability to influence others towards a common goal.
  • Strong aptitude with producing statistical and financial reports.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, project management and multi-tasking skills
  • Well-developed computer skills, including Microsoft Office, with the flexibility, adaptability and desire to learn and embrace new and emerging technology
  • High standard of professionalism and superior communications skills (oral and written)
  • Proven attention to detail and ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
