Safety Director

Position:EHS Director - US

Location: Odessa, TX

Job Id:151

# of Openings:1

Summary/Overview

This role will establish one safety structure across Plum's field operations, service activities, manufacturing and fabrication environments. The Safety Director will translate regulatory, customer and industry expectations into clear standards, procedures, training and field practices that employees can use every day.

This is a hands-on leadership role for an experienced safety professional who can build trust with operations teams, coach leaders, identify risk early and hold the organization accountable. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in the field, in fabrication environments and with senior leaders, while building the systems and support structure needed for Plum's continued growth across both countries.

Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Lead Plum's global HSE strategy, policies, standards and annual objectives across the United States and Canada, with clear accountabilities and practical minimum requirements.
  • Partner with executive and operational leaders to integrate safety into business planning, project execution, equipment deployment and growth while maintaining efficient operations.
Operational Safety and Risk Management
  • Provide visible safety leadership across field operations, service, equipment mobilization, fabrication and manufacturing.
  • Identify and control operational risks through assessments, inspections, audits, pre-job planning and effective controls for high-risk work.
  • Support safe project mobilization, site start-up, equipment handoff and closeout with complete, current safety documentation.
Compliance and Assurance
  • Maintain compliance with applicable US and Canadian health, safety and environmental requirements, including OSHA, DOT and relevant provincial, state and local requirements.
  • Lead regulatory and customer audits, contractor safety expectations, document control and corrective-action programs.
Training and Safety Culture
  • Standardize safety onboarding, role-based training, toolbox talks, field coaching and practical safety resources for employees, supervisors, contractors and visitors.
  • Build a safety-first culture by developing leaders, encouraging hazard and near-miss reporting, and addressing capability gaps through staffing, training and support.
Incident Learning and Performance Improvement
  • Oversee incident, near-miss and hazard investigations; identify root causes; and ensure corrective actions are completed and effective.
  • Establish global safety KPIs and reporting rhythms that provide leadership with visibility into risk, performance, trends, audit results and resource needs.
Team Leadership and Partnership
  • Lead and develop safety specialists, consultants and other safety resources supporting Plum's operations.
  • Partner with Operations, Manufacturing, Engineering, Logistics, Human Resources, Finance and Commercial teams, providing independent advice and representing Plum with customers, contractors, industry groups and regulators when required.
Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, environmental health, engineering, industrial technology, a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Significant progressive experience leading HSE or safety programs in oil and gas, gas infrastructure, industrial services, heavy equipment, manufacturing, fabrication, construction or a related high-hazard environment.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or another relevant professional designation.
  • Experience building a global or multi-location HSE program during a period of organizational growth.
Leader Responsibilities
  • Directly supervise safety professionals as the function grows and coordinate the work of site safety specialists and third-party safety providers.
  • Set clear expectations, goals and measures for the safety team.
  • Develop succession, training and capability plans for the department.
  • This role requires regular travel to offices, fabrication facilities, field locations, customer sites and project locations in the United States and Canada. The position may involve working outdoors and in environments with industrial equipment, vehicles, changing weather conditions, noise, dust and other operational hazards. The employee must be able to use appropriate personal protective equipment and follow all site and customer safety requirements.
