What are the daily responsibilities of an independent contractor data entry?

As an Independent Contractor Data Entry professional, your daily responsibilities typically include entering, updating, and verifying information in digital databases, spreadsheets, or client-specific systems. You may also be tasked with reviewing data for accuracy, organizing electronic files, and maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information. Since the role is often remote and project-based, you'll frequently communicate with clients or project managers to clarify requirements or manage priorities. The pace can vary depending on workload, but the ability to manage your own schedule is a key aspect of this position.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed for an independent contractor data entry?

Success as an Independent Contractor Data Entry professional requires strong typing skills, keen attention to detail, and familiarity with spreadsheets and data management software. Knowledge of tools like Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, and specialized data entry platforms is often expected, though formal certifications are rarely required. Excellent time management, self-motivation, and clear written communication are standout soft skills for handling remote work and meeting deadlines. These abilities ensure accurate, timely data processing while maintaining client satisfaction in a self-directed, often remote environment.

How do you become an independent contractor data entry?

To become an independent contractor in data entry, you typically need to develop strong typing and computer skills, create a professional resume highlighting relevant experience, and register on freelance platforms or job boards. Some roles may require basic knowledge of spreadsheet or database software and the ability to work independently with flexible schedules.

Alexandria, VA

Contractor

Posted 15 days ago

Job description

HumRRO is seeking a detail-oriented Independent Contractor (1099) to serve as a Physical Test Administrator to facilitate the Applicant Physical Abilities Test (APAT) at designated testing facilities. The APAT is a four-test battery administered to job applicants as part of the selection process. The individual assessments are push-ups, sit-ups, agility run, and the 1.5 mile run. As an Independent Contractor, you will set up, administer, and score all tests in accordance with established protocols. Additional tasks include ensuring applicants are checked in, identified, briefed, and monitored safely and consistently throughout each physical assessment session.

This project-based role is strictly for an Independent Contractor (1099). Contractors operate autonomously to ensure the standardized, safe, consistent, and accurate administration of physical ability assessments (push-ups, sit-ups, agility run, and 1.5-mile run) to applicants, maintaining consistency, fairness, and data integrity across all testing sessions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Confirm facility readiness and equipment availability prior to each scheduled APAT session
  • Verify that the minimum required number of Test Administrators (at least two per session of up to eight applicants, with at least one CPR-certified) are present and prepared
  • Greet applicants upon arrival and manage check-in and check-out procedures
  • Verify applicant identification prior to beginning any assessment
  • Distribute test-related materials and required documentation to applicants (score sheets, waiver forms); collect and return test materials.
  • Explain test procedures and demonstrate proper form for physical assessments (e.g., push-ups, sit-ups)
  • Monitor applicants throughout testing to ensure adherence to protocol and applicant safety
  • Address environmental or equipment issues that arise during testing sessions
  • Provide applicants with APAT process information to help applicants reschedule assessments or submit accommodations
  • Accurately record test scores and associated documentation into the HumRRO online data system

Required Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Current CPR certification (Adult CPR/AED) or willingness to obtain certification prior to the first assignment
  • Successfully complete a mandatory HumRRO APAT protocol briefing and quality assurance orientation prior to performing services
  • Proficiency in English, both written and verbal
  • Ability to operate standard industry testing equipment and adhere to facility safety protocols
  • Ability to confirm facility and staffing readiness in accordance with administration requirements
  • Ability to stand, move, and actively monitor physical activity for extended periods during testing sessions
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact professionally and respectfully with all applicants in a variety of conditions
  • Flexibility on your availability for assignments based on testing volume, including potential short notice, weekend, or evening sessions
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and retention and storage of test materials
  • Demonstrated ability to follow scripted instructions and procedures without deviation

Physical Requirements

This role requires the Test Administrator to be physically present and active throughout each testing session, which may last several hours. Essential physical demands include:

  • Standing, walking, and moving throughout the testing facility for extended periods
  • Bending, kneeling, or demonstrating physical movements
  • Demonstrating proper push-up and sit-up form and errors without accommodation to instruct applicants
  • Lifting or moving lightweight testing equipment (e.g., cones, mats, timers) as needed
  • Responding quickly to address safety concerns or equipment malfunctions during testing
  • Performing CPR
  • Visually and audibly monitoring multiple applicants simultaneously across an indoor or outdoor testing area

Working Conditions & Scheduling

  • Work is performed on-site at designated testing facilities, which may include indoor gymnasiums or outdoor tracks/fields
  • Project opportunities will be offered based on applicant testing volume and Independent Contractor maintaining availability
  • Testing sessions require sustained attention and physical activity, with minimal downtime during applicant testing windows
  • Administrators must coordinate closely with at least one additional Test Administrator during each session to ensure compliance with staffing and safety requirements
  • Test administration is conducted in close proximity to applicants

Compensation & Contract Terms

Fee Structure: $100 per approved APAT session/Not To Exceed (NTE) $5,000 per 50-APAT sessions

Payment Terms: Payment will be issued upon submission and approval of invoices and test data deliverables

Contract Duration: 12-month Independent Contractor Agreement
