Independent Contractor Cortex Rn information

What is an independent contractor Cortex RN?

An Independent Contractor Cortex RN is a registered nurse who works on a contract basis, typically through the Cortex platform, providing nursing services to healthcare facilities or patients. Unlike staff nurses, independent contractors are not employees; they manage their own schedules, handle their own taxes, and often work for multiple clients. This role offers flexibility and autonomy but requires self-management and business skills in addition to nursing expertise. Independent Contractor Cortex RNs may perform tasks such as patient assessments, care coordination, and health education, depending on their contract assignments.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an independent contractor Cortex RN?

To thrive as an Independent Contractor Cortex RN, you need a valid RN license, clinical nursing experience, and a solid understanding of remote patient monitoring protocols. Familiarity with telehealth platforms, electronic health records (EHRs), and secure communication systems is typically required. Strong organizational skills, self-motivation, and effective communication are crucial for managing caseloads and collaborating remotely. These skills ensure high-quality patient care, compliance, and efficiency in a flexible, independent work environment.

What are some common challenges independent contractor Cortex RNs face when integrating with hospital teams?

Independent Contractor Cortex RNs often face the challenge of quickly adapting to new hospital environments and team dynamics. Because they are contracted for specific assignments, they must rapidly learn facility protocols, electronic health records systems, and workflow expectations. Building rapport with permanent staff and ensuring seamless patient care transitions can also be demanding. However, strong communication skills and adaptability help overcome these hurdles, allowing contractors to deliver high-quality care while maintaining professional flexibility.

What is the difference between Independent Contractor Cortex Rn vs Registered Nurse?

AspectIndependent Contractor Cortex RnRegistered Nurse

Work EnvironmentFreelance, contract-based settings, clinics, or home careHospitals, clinics, long-term care facilities
Employer & Industry UsageSelf-employed, staffing agencies, healthcare facilitiesHospitals, healthcare organizations, clinics

Both roles require licensure and healthcare credentials, but Independent Contractor Cortex Rn typically works independently on a contract basis, while Registered Nurses are employed by healthcare facilities. The key difference lies in employment structure and work setting, with Cortex Rn acting as a freelancer and RN often in institutional environments.

No On-Call

3 days per week

Dialysis Experience Required

The primary home job location is DaVita SNF Dialysis at Plaza 1475 N Granite Reef Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85257.

Other local SNF Dialysis den locations include Haven Sky Harbor in Phoenix, Palm Valley in Goodyear and Resolve in Phoenix.

The RN works in a 6-chair dialysis den. It is likely to be a 3-day per week schedule with NO on-call.

The RN must be flexible to support other local SNF Dialysis dens if needed. DaVita SNF Dialysis dens are open Mon-Sat and treat up to 3 shifts of patients each day dependent on census. Strart times are typically around 5 am.

Approximately 10% of all dialysis patients reside in a Skilled Nursing Facility and are transported to dialysis three times a week placing a significant burden on patients and adding significant avoidable costs to the health care system. DSD Services teammates will have access to all the capabilities and resources DaVita has to offer, and will work to quickly leverage these to develop the infrastructure and rapidly grow the new service line. Ideal teammates will have experience in dialysis, get energized by improving the lives of patients, and have a track record of finding ways to Get Stuff Done (GSD). Teammates must be comfortable working autonomously and have demonstrated the ability to collaborate with cross-functional resources across the organization.

What you can expect:

In this role, you take responsibility for the complete ongoing care of each patient to ensure their dialysis treatment stays on track. DaVita Skilled Nursing Facility Dialysis RNs will troubleshoot, and make sound decisions for our patients related to their dialysis treatment and will occasionally partner alongside the SNF staff to coordinate care.

Patient education.RNs by training, are Educators. As a DSD Services RN, you will be provided the opportunity to conduct impactful and meaningful education to patients and their families in the SNF setting.

Autonomy and Critical Thinking. Provide comprehensive patient care in an independent setting. Plan to be on your toes at all times. You use your mind constantly. You apply your "core" nursing skills to assess, diagnose and implement complete care plans as you look at the whole patient. There's a lot to track and manage and the joy comes in witnessing how your care impacts patients' lives.

You must have:
