Job description

At Cafe Rio, great restaurants start with great people-and facilitiesthat are safe, reliable, and ready to serve craveable food every day. TheFacilities Manager is a hands-on, field-based leader who keeps assignedrestaurants running smoothly through proactive maintenance, timely repairs, anddirect support for restaurant teams.

This role spends most of its time in stores diagnosing issues,completing repairs, supporting maintenance projects, and coordinating vendorswhen specialized help is needed. Key areas include plumbing, refrigeration,HVAC, kitchen equipment, carpentry, handyman projects, and general buildingupkeep.

This role reports to the VP of Operations Services.

Responsibilities
Hands-On / In-Store Facilities Work


Spend the majority of working time inrestaurants performing hands-on maintenance, repairs, diagnostics,troubleshooting, and improvement projects.

Visit restaurants regularly to complete facilitywalk-throughs, identify maintenance needs, and help teams keep operationsguest-ready.

Respond to urgent facility issues and supportemergency coordination to reduce downtime and protect restaurant operations.

Complete general building repairs, includingminor carpentry, hardware, patching, painting, fixtures, doors, locks,lighting, flooring, and seasonal readiness.

Perform plumbing repairs and troubleshooting forleaks, clogs, fixtures, drains, water lines, and related restaurant needswithin scope.

Troubleshoot refrigeration, HVAC, kitchenequipment, and building systems; complete minor repairs when appropriate andcoordinate vendor support when needed.

Safely use hand tools, power tools, meters,testing equipment, ladders, and other maintenance tools while working inrestaurants.

Partner with restaurant teams to identifyrecurring issues, prioritize repairs, and keep Cafe Rio restaurants safe,functional, and ready for guests.

Administer and execute HVAC and refrigerationpreventive maintenance programs.

Administrative / CoordinationResponsibilities
Manage service requests for assignedrestaurants, including troubleshooting, work order routing, vendor dispatch,and timely resolution.


Coordinate vendors, contractors, landlords,store teams, and internal partners to complete repairs efficiently and maintainstrong working relationships.

Monitor outsourced preventive maintenanceprograms, including scheduling, vendor performance, contract support, andmaintenance standards.

Track repair activity, spending trends,warranties, and equipment recommendations to support smartrepair-versus-replacement decisions.

Support facilities systems administration, dataaccuracy, dashboards, user access, records, invoices, budget tracking, andreporting.

Assist with vendor proposals, bids, and projectscopes to support quality work and cost-effective results.

Qualifications

Minimum of 4 years of facilities, buildingmaintenance, trades, construction, property operations, restaurant, retail, orhospitality experience.

Hands-on experience with commercialmaintenance and repair work, including plumbing, refrigeration, HVAC,commercial kitchen equipment, basic electrical, carpentry, and general buildingupkeep.

Ability to safely use hand tools, powertools, testing equipment, ladders, and maintenance-related equipment.

Strong communication, organization, andproblem-solving skills with the ability to support restaurant teams, vendors,landlords, and internal partners.

Ability to manage multiple service requests,vendors, and priorities in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment.

Comfort working independently in restaurants,traveling regularly to locations, and performing physical repair work on adaily basis.

Experience reviewing repair costs, budgets,warranties, and operational trends; basic P/L knowledge preferred.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office andfamiliarity with facilities or work order systems (ServiceChannel experiencepreferred).

Spanish language skills are a plus.

The year was 1997. The place, a little town in southern Utah called St. George. A lovely couple named Steve and Patricia Stanley started a restaurant called Cafe Rio Mexican Grill. Cafe Rio served authentic dishes derived from inspired recipes and traditional cooking of Northern Mexico’s Rio Grande region, Southern Texas, and New Mexico. Central to every bite was the belief that every ingredient must be fresh and made fresh to order. And you know what? People loved it. They couldn’t get enough of it. So much so, that one restaurant became six. In 2004, these six little restaurants caught the attention of a fine gentleman named Bob Nilsen. He purchased Cafe Rio from the Stanleys with the idea of spreading the love of making this fresh Mexican food to everyone in and around Utah and beyond.
