Job description

Overview
Join our team as a Senior Graphic Designer and support the U.S. Department of Labor's Office of Public Affairs (OPA) by producing high-visibility print and digital creative campaigns. You will design posters, exhibits, reports, and multimedia graphics for national events and initiatives, ensure every deliverable meets federal accessibility and design standards.

**Position is contingent upon contract award**
Work Schedule and Location:
On-Site: This full-time on-site position will work Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm at DOL's Frances Perkins Building (FPB) headquarters in Washington, DC.
Responsibilities
  • Design a wide range of print and digital products - posters, exhibits, stage banners, website and social media graphics, motion graphics, infographics, annual reports, booklets, and signage
  • Work independently with minimal creative direction, from concept through final production
  • Prepare visual media using Macintosh systems and industry-standard design software
  • Resolve technical production issues and recommend materials/equipment for each assignment
  • Prioritize competing project deadlines and proactively flag risks to the project lead
  • Interact directly with senior agency officials and stakeholders on creative direction
  • Apply basic Section 508 accessibility principles to all design output

Qualifications
Required:
  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience in graphic design
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with little to no design guidance
  • Experience interacting with senior/high-level officials or executives
  • Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, and Microsoft Office
  • Working portfolio demonstrating advanced design capability (references/portfolio required for submission)
  • Basic knowledge of Section 508 accessibility requirements
  • Prior direct work experience with the DOL Office of Public Affairs Creative Services Division is required

Desired:
  • Prior experience supporting a federal public affairs or creative services function
  • Experience with large-format print production, exhibit/banner installation, or framing/matting
  • Familiarity with IPTC metadata standards for digital asset management
