Job description

Assists the Pharmacists by filling prescriptions for medications for oral, rectal, topical and injectable use. Supports pharmacological services by stocking, assembling, and distributing medications.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assists the Pharmacist in providing medication, patient drug information and pharmaceutical services to patients. Rotate through all work areas of pharmacy.
  • Repacking bulk medications.
  • Unit dosing.
  • Transport medications, restock drug delivery devices.
  • Screen telephone calls.
  • Maintains inventory of supplies and reorders them accordingly.
  • Aids in the training of Pharmacy Technician students or new employees.
  • Prepares select reports as needed/directed.
  • Receives and stores incoming deliveries of medication and supplies.
  • Participates in departmental and organizational performance improvement and CQI activities.
  • Performs all aspects of medication dispensing in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
  • Maintains the Pharmacy Department in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Demonstrates ability to calculate figures and amounts relating to dosage calculations when filling various orders and prescriptions.
  • Performs assigned quality control activities on schedule.
  • Maintains professional, helpful and courteous relationships within the department and with other departments.
  • Shows the ability to deal with people in a manner which shows sensitivity, tact, and professionalism.
  • Ability to function as a team player.
  • Keeps patient safety on the forefront at all times.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Demonstrates good communication skills.
  • Follow policies and procedures on patient and employee safety as set forth by the Pharmacist inCharge.
