Job description

Accounts Payable Specialist

Denver, CO (hybrid, in-office)

Pay rate: $28-31/hr

Benefits: Health, dental, vision and 401k eligible

We are seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to manage full-cycle, high-volume invoice processing in a fast-paced environment. This role requires strong attention to detail, a solid understanding of sales and use tax, and the ability to contribute to process improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Process high-volume, full-cycle AP invoices (100+ per day) utilizing three-way match methodology
  • Review invoice coding for accuracy, proper approvals, and reasonableness prior to posting
  • Calculate and apply Colorado sales and use tax on supplier and vendor invoices in accordance with construction industry regulations
  • Perform daily review of unapproved invoice entries and route accordingly
  • Process employee expense claims utilizing third-party expense management software
  • Reconcile vendor statements monthly and follow up on variances in a timely manner
  • Monitor the AP email inbox to ensure invoices are promptly routed and vendor inquiries are addressed professionally
  • Maintain positive working relationships with vendor and supplier accounting teams, responding to all communications promptly and professionally
  • Collaborate with purchasing and project managers to resolve purchase order and invoice discrepancies
  • Recommend and document AP policies to support internal controls and operational efficiency
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the full AP cycle with the ability and willingness to perform any function within it

Requirements

  • 2+ years of full-cycle accounts payable processing experience
  • Construction industry experience highly preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and standard office software including PDF manipulation and document scanning
  • Strong understanding of core accounting functions and AP best practices
