What Warehouse Operations contributes to Cardinal Health
Operations is responsible for materials handling and product distribution in a distribution or manufacturing environment. Includes warehousing and fulfillment of materials and products, transportation, inventory management as well as demand, supply and manufacturing planning.
Warehouse Operations is responsible for performing/controlling a combination of manual or automated tasks necessary for the receipt, storage, and shipment of product. This may include functions of receiving, picking, packing, shipping, staging, transporting, storage, delivery, etc. Also responsible for the efficient flow of products from the point of product receipt from vendors to the shipment of products (via prescribed service parameters) to a variety of internal and external customers.
Job Summary
The Assoc II, Warehouse Ops assists on Inbound activities as requested by the Warehouse Supervisor meeting quality, safety, productivity and operational standards. This job receives products in the Inbound section. As far as the outbound section, this job ships products.

Responsibilities

  • Unloads trucks in the Inbound section by using a Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) or equivalent devices to put pallets out of the trucks.

  • A part of the inbound operations team involved with receiving/verification of inbound freight.

  • Uses Manhattan Warehouse Management System to check in products. If working with specialty products, must follow regulations to store refrigerated products.

  • Stores products in warehouse locations using order picker or other devices.

  • Picks products from warehouse locations and loads into outbound trucks.

  • Drive material handling equipment as required by job duty. Example equipment in the facility may include clamp, order picker (cherry picker), forklift, reach truck, turret truck, pallet jack, walkie rider.

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of inbound warehouse experience, preferred

  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent, or equivalent work experience, preferred

  • Ability to bend, reach, stoop, lift and stand for entire shift

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis

  • Comfort working with heights 20-30 ft regularly

  • Good written communication skills 

  • Proficient in Microsoft office preferred

  • Aptitude to learn all inbound functions successfully in order to be fully cross-trained

  • Able and willing to work overtime as dictated by the business

  • Willing to work in any other tasks in the warehouse (picking, packing, sweeping, etc.)

  • Able to work well under pressure of deadlines and able to accomplish minor tasks with minimal supervision and assistance

  • Track record of having good work ethics and being able to work well with others in a team-oriented environment

  • Detail oriented and capable of reading complex set of numbers and distinguish difference in similar alpha-numeric sets of characters and able to do bias math operations without errors

  • Able to maintain concentration on tasks at hand while working in medium to high levels of noise coming from equipment and warehouse environment in general
