Inbound Outbound Sales Representative information

What does an inbound outbound sales representative do?

An Inbound Outbound Sales Representative is responsible for handling both incoming and outgoing sales calls. Inbound sales involve responding to inquiries from potential customers, providing information, and closing sales. Outbound sales focus on proactively reaching out to leads or existing clients to promote products or services, follow up on previous communications, and generate new business opportunities. This role requires excellent communication skills, the ability to build relationships, and strong sales acumen.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an inbound outbound sales representative?

To excel as an Inbound Outbound Sales Representative, you need strong communication skills, persuasive selling techniques, and a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with CRM software, sales tracking tools, and call center systems is typically required. Resilience, active listening, and a customer-focused attitude are vital soft skills that set top performers apart. These abilities are crucial for consistently meeting sales targets, building strong client relationships, and efficiently managing multiple leads in a competitive environment.

How do inbound outbound sales representatives typically balance handling incoming inquiries with pursuing outbound leads throughout the day?

Inbound Outbound Sales Representatives usually split their time between responding to incoming customer inquiries and proactively reaching out to potential clients. This balance requires strong time management skills and the ability to quickly switch between reactive and proactive selling techniques. Most teams use CRM systems to organize daily tasks, track leads, and schedule follow-ups, ensuring no opportunity is missed. Collaboration with marketing and customer support teams is common to ensure consistent messaging and a smooth customer experience.

Job description

Inbound & Outbound Sales Development Representative (Merchant Onboarding)
Location: East Austin, TX (In-Person)Compensation: Base Salary: $70,000 + Performance Incentives (Typical First-Year Earnings: ~$85,000)
Your Next Mission
Every day, legitimate businesses are turned away by traditional payment processors.
At Easy Pay Direct, we help those businesses get approved so they can accept payments and continue growing.
We're a small, agile team in the heart of East Austin, and we're looking for a sharp, proactive Sales Development Representative to be the first point of contact for prospective merchants and guide them from initial interest through account approval.
If you enjoy sales, move with urgency, and like helping business owners solve real problems, we'd love to meet you.
This role is perfect for someone who enjoys building relationships, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and takes pride in turning opportunities into approved merchant accounts.
About Easy Pay Direct
Founded in 2012 by an entrepreneur who experienced the frustrations of e-commerce payment processing firsthand, Easy Pay Direct helps business owners navigate one of the most specialized areas of fintech.
We're not a big bank or a large corporation. We're a close-knit team that moves fast, communicates openly, and gives every employee the opportunity to make a meaningful impact.
What "High-Risk" Means
Certain businesses can't use processors like Stripe or Square because of their industry, chargeback exposure, or regulatory requirements.
We help those businesses secure reliable payment processing by partnering with the right banking institutions and guiding them through underwriting and compliance.
If you're new to merchant services, don't worry. We'll teach you everything you need to succeed.
A Typical Day
No two days are the same, but your day will typically include:
  • Responding to inbound leads within minutes
  • Prospecting and following up with merchants
  • Calling, texting, and emailing prospective business owners
  • Collecting documentation and moving applications toward approval
  • Working with internal teams to keep deal moving with underwriters
  • Managing your pipeline and activity in HubSpot

What You'll Be Doing
Your mission is simple: connect with merchants, guide them through the sales and onboarding process, and get them approved as quickly as possible.
The Go-Getter
New opportunities don't wait. Neither do you.
Whether it's a brand-new inbound lead or a merchant who needs another follow-up, you move quickly, build trust, and keep every opportunity moving forward.
Your responsiveness sets the tone for every merchant's experience.
The Onboarding Maestro
You'll guide merchants through the application process by setting expectations, answering questions, collecting documentation, securing electronic signatures, and preparing complete applications for underwriting.
A smooth onboarding experience leads to faster approvals and happier merchants.
The Gatekeeper
You're our first line of defense against fraud and compliance risk.
You'll review bank statements, government-issued IDs, business documentation, and processing history to identify potential red flags before applications move forward.
Your attention to detail protects our merchants, our banking partners, and our reputation.
The Hub of Information
You'll maintain meticulous records in HubSpot.
If it isn't in HubSpot, it didn't happen.
Clear documentation and consistent follow-up keep your pipeline organized and every opportunity moving.
Success in Your First 90 Days
You'll:
  • Own your own pipeline of inbound and outbound opportunities
  • Maintain an average response time under 3 minutes
  • Achieve a 70%+ application completion rate
  • Develop a strong understanding of underwriting, compliance, and fraud prevention
  • Successfully onboard at least 10 approved merchants

Key Performance Indicators
Your success will be measured by:
  • Lead response time
  • Application completion rate
  • Time to approval
  • Document accuracy
  • HubSpot accuracy
  • Pipeline activity and follow-up consistency

What We're Looking For
Required
  • 2+ years of experience as a B2B Sales Representative or in an inbound/outbound client onboarding role
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable making outbound calls and persistent follow-up
  • Self-motivated with a strong sense of urgency, ownership, and accountability
  • Tech-savvy and quick to learn new systems
  • Ability to build rapport quickly and guide merchants through a structured sales process

Preferred
  • Experience in merchant services, fintech, financial services, or payment processing
  • Experience working with high-risk merchant accounts
  • Experience using HubSpot or another CRM
  • Experience reviewing financial documents or supporting underwriting
  • Experience identifying fraud or compliance concerns

Why You'll Love Working Here
  • Build expertise in one of fintech's most specialized industries.
  • Work directly with experienced leaders.
  • Make a measurable impact from day one.
  • Grow your career as Easy Pay Direct continues to grow.
