Inside Sales Representative – Heavy Equipment Dealership
Reports To: Vice President - Heavy Equipment Dealership Sales

The Inside Sales Representative serves as a key point of contact for the Heavy Equipment dealership, managing daily customer interactions and requests. This role maintains consistent communication with manufacturers’ representatives and customers, delivering exceptional service and ensuring an elevated level of customer satisfaction. The position requires building strong relationships through effective communication, taking ownership of customer issues, and providing timely updates throughout the resolution process. This is an initiative-taking, outbound focused inside sales role.
This role could potentially be remote or hybrid, candidates must live within the McCann Industries area of operations of Northern Illinois, Northern Indiana, or Southwest Lower Michigan to facilitate regular one-on-one meetings.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Promote the sale of new, used, and rental equipment through a strategic and proactive approach, both within and outside the McCann dealer assigned primary responsibility (APR), targeting end-users, other dealers, and wholesalers.
  • Drive rental revenue for both heavy and light equipment within and outside the assigned APR.
  • Promote company service offerings and support overall sales growth within the assigned territory.
  • Qualify leads from multiple sources and distribute opportunities to Account Managers as appropriate.
  • Monitor competitor activity and communicate insights to management that may impact the company’s success within the Equipment Division.
  • Assist walk-in customers with product inquiries and develop follow-up and closing strategies based on those interactions (applicable for non-remote roles).
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all product offerings, policies, and programs.
  • Demonstrate an elevated level of sales professionalism through ongoing training, including attendance at Case Construction Equipment and other industry seminars.
  • Accurately maintain and update activities, opportunities, accounts, and contacts within CRM software.
  • Manage the Case “Journey Center” experience, including lead generation and program discount requests.
  • Oversee lead generation efforts from non-Case vendors.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications, and experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree or 3 to 5 comparable years of inside sales experience required.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude preferred but not required.
  • Prior experience in the construction equipment industry is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and CRM software is required.
Skills and abilities:
  • Highly professional and effective communication skills, particularly in both inbound and outbound phone interactions.
  • Strong ability to identify revenue opportunities, develop new business, establish new accounts, and strengthen customer relationships.
  • Working knowledge of credit policies and procedures, with the ability to obtain customer credit approvals and support the credit department in resolving collection issues.

Physical Requirements: Frequent sitting and walking; use of hands and phone; vision requirements include close, distance and color.
