Job description

Job Summary: The Manager in Training (MIT) will study alongside an established store manager so that one day S/he will become a General Manager. S/he must acquire the necessary skills to accept complete accountability for overall store operations and conditions. Throughout the training s/he will be given the essential tools necessary to manage, train, and develop all team members, while helping to ensure productivity and the overall success of the store.
The Manager in Training (MIT) is a six months to one year process. The MIT must works in department of a grocery store to learn each department's respective functions and operations.
Essential Job Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate the knowledge and training of how to effectively run the day to day operations of a grocery store, as well as possess the skills to delegate responsibilities, implement (while still adhering to) the rules of the store and company.
  • Understand, follow, and implement the company's core values.
  • Must build a positive work environment of outstanding teamwork, mutual respect and exceptional morale and lead by example.
  • Demonstrate exceptional leadership skills, initiative, organization, ability to teach, oversee, and train,
  • Possess excellent written and verbal skills,
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of sanitation, safety regulations, HACCP, and OSHA rules and regulations, and a willingness to learn and grow.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Certifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalency with 0-3 years of experience in grocery store or similar retail environment.
  • Must have a minimum two years in a leadership position capacity or equivalent.

Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Must be capable of providing and modeling exceptional customer service.
  • Must have excellent communication skills in order to communicate effectively with customers, store leadership, and fellow-team members.
  • Must be detail oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently or in groups.
  • Must have the physical ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time, bend and stoop to grasp objects, withstand frequent temperature changes (ex. coolers and freezers), frequently push and pull up to 100 lbs., frequently lift loads up to 50 lbs., and occasionally lift 75 lbs.

Starting hourly rates will be no less than the local minimum wage and will vary based on things like location, experience, and qualifications. All positions are eligible for Overtime, and some positions will have guaranteed Overtime available.
Hourly rate for Suburban Stores is $15-$25
Hourly rate for City of Chicago Stores is $16.60-$25
