Job Title: English Language Center Faculty Director-CFS Professional FacultyPosting End Date: August, 20, 2026*NOTE: Last day to apply is Wednesday, August 19, 2026 @ 11:59 p.m. (MST)Position Start Date: August, 16, 2027Required Degree: (PhD or EdD) in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, Linguistics, Second Language Acquisition, Language Education, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.The required degree must be completed by the start date.Experience:Three to five years of experience directing a lab-based English Language program that trains university students in TESOL. University-level teaching in TESOL or English language instruction. Direct experience teaching adult English language learners in an intensive English program (IEP), ESL, or EFL setting. Experience mentoring, supervising, and training pre-service and in-service English language teachers. Demonstrated leadership experience. Experience with curriculum development and evaluation and language assessment. Familiarity with federal regulations governing intensive English Programs. A record of student-centered scholarship and professional engagement.Duties/Expectations:Teaching Responsibilities:Teach at least one course annually in English language instruction or TESOL-related areasSupport high-quality instruction across the ELC through observation, feedback, and mentoring of instructorsMentor student teachers, visiting faculty, and instructors in developing effective teaching practicesSupervise practicum and internship experiences for undergraduate and graduate studentsContribute to teacher training, orientation, and ongoing professional developmentSupport course development and revision in alignment with program outcomesProfessional Service:Provide leadership and strategic direction for the ELC, including long-term planning, policy development, program evaluation, and chairing the Executive CouncilServe as the primary liaison to the Department Chair and represent the ELC to university leadership, Continuing Education, and external stakeholdersCultivate collaboration among the Associate Directors, Operations Manager, Office Manager, Student Services Advisor, and Programmer, honoring the autonomy and expertise of eachOversee operations, including admissions, immigration, and enrollment; align enrollment and fiscal strategy with institutional goals; and approve expenditures within delegated authorityProvide leadership for and collaborate with the Associate Director of Curriculum and Instruction on curricular refinement, teacher hiring and assignments, instructional quality, and evaluation that informs training of BYU students teaching at the ELCProvide strategic oversight of assessment and technology in partnership with the Associate Director of Technology and Assessment, including training TESOL students in assessment practices and ensuring access to needed technological resourcesSupport student advisement, office management, and mentor visiting faculty through training, professional development, exit planning, etc.Citizenship & Scholarship:Participate in departmental meetings and committees and contribute to university service and initiatives as appropriateCollaborate with Linguistics faculty to support and vet research conducted at the ELCServe on MA committees for theses, projects, and portfoliosCo-author ELC-based research, with an emphasis on students serving as lead authorsEngage in professional service within TESOL and applied linguistics communitiesPromote a collaborative, respectful, and inclusive environment consistent with the mission of the universityDocuments Required at the Time of Application:Please attach your:Mission Alignment Statementupdated curriculum vitaecover letter and to the faculty applicationInformation required at the time of application:Please list the individual contact information for each of your three recommenders on the faculty application.
