Job description

Assistant Classroom Teacher at International Schoolhouse, Spanish-Immersion School

Responsible for supporting the lead teacher in the implementation of a developmentally appropriate program that meets the emotional, physical, cognitive, and social needs of children in the assigned group. All activities are conducted in Spanish.

Hours: Mon- Fri starting in January 2026. Part-time and Full time positions available.

Minimum Requirements

  • Fluent in Spanish, native speaker preferred.
  • Lots of energy and enthusiasm. Team player, willing to work collaboratively.
  • Experienced working with young children.
  • Ability to effectively interact and relate to children, parents and co-workers.
  • Strong commitment to professional development.
  • High-school Diploma and 60 hours of additional coursework. Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Set up a team relationship with all teachers in the school.
  • Help the lead classroom teacher prepare daily activities to support the developmental needs of children in the assigned group.
  • Foster the development of language, cognitive, motor and interpersonal skills.
  • Support the development of a positive self-image and respectful interaction with peers, teachers and the environment.
  • Encourage exploration and creativity.
  • Work to broaden children’s understanding of the world around them through experiences and conversations.
  • Observe and help document each child’s progress.
  • Maintain a clean and safe classroom and facility.

Additional:

  • Attend meetings and conferences as scheduled.
  • Complete all other duties as assigned.
  • Communicate with lead teacher and director regarding any developmental or behavioral concerns for a particular child.
