Job Overview
The In-Room Dining Server is responsible for providing exceptional service to hotel guests by delivering food and beverages directly to their rooms. This role involves taking orders, ensuring timely delivery, and maintaining high standards of presentation and service. The In-Room Dining Server will collaborate with kitchen staff, housekeeping, and management to ensure a seamless and positive guest experience, while adhering to quality, safety, and cleanliness standards.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Order Taking & Guest Interaction:

    • Take food and beverage orders from guests via phone, in-room tablet systems, or personal interaction, ensuring all guest requests are accurately noted.
    • Provide detailed descriptions of menu items, including ingredients, preparation methods, and potential allergens, assisting guests in making informed decisions.
    • Offer suggestions for upselling additional items such as beverages, appetizers, and desserts to enhance the guest experience.
    • Ensure that all special requests or dietary restrictions are communicated clearly to the kitchen and met promptly.

  • Food & Beverage Delivery:

    • Deliver food and beverages to guest rooms in a timely manner, ensuring the correct order and presentation.
    • Present food and beverages with a high standard of professionalism, ensuring all items are neatly plated and appropriately garnished.
    • Ensure that orders are delivered in accordance with hotel standards, including proper temperature, portion size, and presentation.

    • Collect any dirty dishes, trays, or service items from the room after meals, ensuring the room is left tidy.

  • Mini Bar Attendant Responsibilities:

    • Verify accuracy of mini bar inventory and ensure all consumed items are properly recorded and changed through the POS system.

    • Conduct daily or scheduled audits of mini bar inventory and report discrepancies to management.

    • Coordinate with housekeeping and front desk staff to ensure that guest room access and service timing align with guest preferences and the hotel's operational schedule.
    • Report any maintenance issues or discrepancies in room setups or guest requests to management promptly.

  • Inventory & Stock Management:

    • Monitor inventory levels for in-room dining supplies, including trays, glassware, napkins, condiments, and utensils.
    • Notify management or housekeeping of low inventory levels to ensure timely replenishment.
    • Ensure that in-room dining equipment is properly maintained, cleaned, and stored after use.

Education and/or Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in a food and beverage service role, preferably in room service or hospitality, is preferred.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and proper handling techniques is beneficial.
  • Ability to use in-room dining systems or basic point-of-sale (POS) systems.
