Position: Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical

Location: Central Maine Medical Center, Lewiston, ME

Employment Type: Full-time | Night Shifts | 7 PM – 7 AM | 12-Hour Shifts

Role Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering safe, patient-focused care by employing the nursing process, which includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, within the Medical-Surgical unit. This role involves direct patient care, care coordination, and clinical evaluation in an acute care setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct care to assigned Medical-Surgical patients
  • Conduct ongoing assessments and monitor patient conditions and responses to treatments
  • Communicate any changes in patient conditions, diagnostic results, and symptoms to physicians
  • Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments as prescribed
  • Educate patients and their families while guiding nursing support staff
  • Respond promptly and accurately to changes in patient status
  • Maintain precise and timely clinical documentation
  • Ensure adherence to patient safety, HIPAA, and regulatory standards
Qualifications

Education, Experience, and Training Requirements:

  • Must possess a current and valid state RN License.
  • Current BLS certification required upon hire and must be maintained.
  • ACLS certification preferred within 30 days of hire and must be maintained.
  • Previous experience in an acute care hospital setting is preferred.
  • Experience with ventilator management is preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
