Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN)

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) provides high-quality, compassionate, and timely care to patients of all ages in a fast-paced Emergency Department. This role is responsible for the rapid assessment, prioritization, intervention, and evaluation of patients presenting with a wide range of emergent and urgent conditions. Strong critical thinking, collaboration, and communication skills are essential for effective teamwork in this multidisciplinary environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform comprehensive and focused assessments of patients presenting with emergent, urgent, or non-urgent conditions.
  • Triage patients using evidence-based protocols to determine acuity levels and initiate appropriate care.
  • Provide rapid intervention and stabilization for patients experiencing medical, surgical, traumatic, psychiatric, and pediatric emergencies.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and procedures in accordance with hospital policy and provider orders.
  • Operate and monitor medical equipment such as cardiac monitors, infusion pumps, ventilators, and point-of-care testing devices.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members including physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, and EMS personnel.
  • Coordinate patient care, including diagnostic testing, re-evaluation, disposition planning, and patient education.
  • Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and promptly in the electronic medical record.
  • Participate in rapid response, trauma activations, code blue, stroke, and STEMI protocols as required.
  • Maintain strict adherence to infection control, safety guidelines, and hospital standards.
  • Support a culture of patient-centered care, empathy, and service excellence in a high-volume ED environment.
Qualifications Required:
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Oklahoma (or compact license).
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification.
Preferred (to be obtained within timeframe after hire):
  • TNCC and ENPC certifications.
  • Prior experience in Emergency Nursing, Critical Care, or high-acuity settings.
Skills & Abilities
  • Strong critical thinking and rapid decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Competency in trauma care, cardiac care, and stabilizing critically ill patients.
  • Ability to remain calm and focused during high-stress situations.
Working Conditions
  • Fast-paced, high-acuity Emergency Department.
  • Frequent exposure to trauma and critical illness.
  • Requires standing, walking, lifting, and performing physical tasks throughout the shift.
