Job description

Your Opportunity:

As a member of a multi-disciplinary team, the Registered Nurse - NICU is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for NICU patients in a tertiary level unit. The successful candidate performs a variety of nursing duties by administering safe and effective nursing care according to hospital/unit specific policies and nursing care standards. The successful candidate will maintain positive working relationships with parents, families, and co-workers, and be able to independently manage multiple priorities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary to succeed in the fast-paced environment of the DS NICU. The successful candidate will have an active role in facilitating family centered care and preceptorship of new staff and students. Employees are required to work a minimum of 1 year in NICU following completion of their orientation before they will be considered for a casual position.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Ability to work independently and effectively in a multidisciplinary setting. Excellent collaboration, communication, interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills and abilities. Candidates must be highly motivated and self-directed.

Preferred Qualifications:

3 years of NICU experience within last 5 years. 3 years of PICU, ICU, PCICU, Peds ER, or Labor & Delivery experience within last 5 years. Current NRP certification. Level 3 NICU experience within last 5 years.
