Job description

Position Summary

Eyconis is seeking a highly motivated individual to contribute to chemical process development with primary focus on (bio-)polymer modification. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting laboratory-based activities to support Eyconis’ late phase process development program. Collaborating closely with a team of scientists and engineers, the candidate will engage in reaction and process optimization, and scale-up initiatives. This position offers significant opportunities for scientific growth while contributing to the advancement of innovative, complex, and impactful drugs for patients. This is an on-site position located in Redwood City and reports to the Director, Development Chemistry.

Primary Responsibilities – This Role Includes:

  • Design, conduct, analyze, and interpret reaction/process optimization, scale-up, and other experimental development studies
  • Design, conduct, analyze, and interpret analytical methods in support of development chemistry activities and priorities
  • Document experimental results in an ELN and write technical protocols/reports as needed
  • Present data at group and cross-functional team meetings
  • Identify and propose solutions to laboratory problems
  • Keep current with developments in the field of (bio-)polymer, and polymer analytical chemistry
  • Support general laboratory operations by coordinating instrument maintenance, laboratory supplies, and adherence to safety protocols
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to support program goals and milestones

Requirements

Successful Candidates Will Meet Most of These Knowledge, Skills and Experience Criteria:

  • PhD or master’s degree in polymer chemistry, organic chemistry or related field with 0-3 yrs experience. Level can be flexible depending on the degree and experience
  • Hands-on experience and knowledge of (bio-)polymer synthesis, modification and characterization. Experience with polysaccharides is preferred.
  • Experience in analytical methods for polymer characterization, such as SEC-MALS, NMR, HPLC, and rheology
  • Experience working in a (bio-)polymer chemistry lab with a broad class of organic transformations.
  • Familiarity with cGMP / ICH guidelines is a plus.
  • Ability to summarize complex data sets and draw appropriate conclusions
  • Strong communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills, and attention to details
  • Is curious, observant, detail oriented, and practices good record keeping

Benefits

  • This is a contract role with an anticipated hourly rate of $70-95/hour based on experience.
  • Please note: Company shall provide direction pertaining to the goals to be attained and the results to be achieved by Consultant, but Company shall not control or direct the manner or means by which Consultant or Consultant Personnel perform the Services, including but not limited to the time and place Consultant performs the Services.
  • Consultant must be able to travel to Redwood City, CA when needed.
