What You'll Do: 

Turn customer challenges into engineered solutions.

Pelican is looking for a customer-focused Project Engineer to lead the design, development, and execution of custom packaging and protective transport solutions for high-value equipment. In this role, you'll work directly with customers, engineering teams, manufacturing, and suppliers to transform concepts into production-ready products that meet performance, quality, and delivery expectations.

This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, managing projects from concept through production, and collaborating across multiple disciplines to bring innovative products to life.

  • Design and engineer custom foam cushioning systems and shock-isolated structures used to protect high-value equipment during transport and storage
  • Partner directly with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to define requirements, solve technical challenges, and deliver innovative solutions
  • Lead projects from concept through production, ensuring designs meet performance, manufacturability, cost, and timeline objectives
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, New Product Development, Test Lab, Tooling, and Production teams to support successful product launches
  • Develop testing requirements and validation plans to ensure products meet customer and industry standards
  • Facilitate engineering reviews, project meetings, and status updates with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Support manufacturing readiness, including material planning, scheduling, and production startup activities
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, new technologies, automation, and increased manufacturing capacity
  • Contribute to innovation efforts, including identifying patentable concepts and novel engineering solutions
  • Mentor team members and share technical knowledge to strengthen engineering capabilities across the organization
  • Support the continued growth and development of Pelican's rotational molding and custom packaging businesses
  • Maintain project documentation and ensure compliance with ISO quality standards
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

 

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Plastics Engineering or minimum of 7 years’ on-the-job experience in Rotational Molding plastic part design and/or processing. 
  • Must be eligible to receive information controlled under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). 
  • Background in Lean/Six Sigma, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). 
  • Must be fluent in modeling and Material Requirement Planning (MRP). Solid Edge/SAP preferred. 
  • Moderate application skills and knowledge of plastic processing. 
  • Adequate writing and verbal communication/presentation skills. 
  • Must have good time and project management skills.  
  • Must be able to work with minimal direction.
