Job description

About Reserv
Reserv is an insurtech creating and incubating cutting-edge AI and automation technology to bring efficiency and simplicity to claims. Founded by insurtech veterans with deep experience in SaaS and digital claims, Reserv is venture-backed by Bain Capital and Altai Ventures and began operations in May 2022. We are focused on automating highly manual tasks to tackle long-standing problems in claims and set a new standard for TPAs, insurance technology providers, and adjusters alike. We have ambitious (but attainable!) goals and need people who can work in an evolving environment. If building a leading TPA and the prospect of tackling the long-standing challenges of the claims role sounds exciting, we can't wait to meet you.
About the role
As a PIP (Personal Injury Protection) Manager at Reserv, you will be a working leader providing support to a claims director/vice president with leadership and claim technical responsibilities. Leadership responsibilities will include overseeing work done within the Commercial Transportation, Delivery/ Courier Claims adjusting staff. We want your background and experience to deliver operational effectiveness, particularly in leveraging technology and analytics to drive better efficiencies and performance. You will serve a critical role with the team, the customers, and the client. This role will balance management responsibilities and individual contributor responsibilities when volume dictates the need for assistance with a claims.
What you'll do
This isn't your average claims role - you'll be a driving force behind how we operate, grow, and deliver. Here's what that looks like day to day:
  • Stay flexible and agile - you'll move between hands-on claims handling and coaching your team, pivoting in real time as things come up. No two days look the same.
  • Set the standard - you'll own best practices across the full claims lifecycle, from intake and investigation all the way through settlement and recovery.
  • Be the bridge - you'll make sure your team and your clients are always on the same page, keeping the claims experience smooth and consistent.
  • Be someone people count on - hitting goals, clearing obstacles, and being the person your team turns to when things get complicated.
  • Build something great - you'll help bring in, develop, and keep great people while creating an environment where everyone actually wants to show up and do their best work.
  • Drive the conversation - you'll put together reports and analyses for clients, spot trends, and help them think about how to get ahead of losses.

Day-to-Day:
  • Step up when it counts - when the Director or VP is out, you've got it covered.
  • Make new people feel at home - you'll lead onboarding and help new hires get plugged in from day one, both on the tools and the culture.
  • Be the go-to - first-line questions, escalations, roundtables - people know they can come to you.
  • Carry real authority - you'll have increased reserve and payment authority and a hand in moderate file reviews.
  • Keep the team sharp - you'll spot trends and bring the right topics to Huddles and Elevated Claims Experience Workshops.
  • Put the customer first, always - you'll be one of the loudest voices in the room when it comes to keeping the team focused on delivering for customers.Describe the specific responsibilities and job functions of the role

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 10 years of insurance claims experience in the Delivery/Courier space with PIP with a minimum of 5 years of leadership experience with a preference for experience managing in a remote environment; this would include leading leaders such as team leads or supervisors
  • Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience on point and concentrated in Personal Injury Protection, preferably handling NJ, and other states (TX, NY, MI, GA, included is a plus); more than one state is needed. NJ experience is highly preferred.
  • Active insurance adjuster's license by way of a designated home state; home state license required if home state license is available
  • Willing to obtain all licenses within 60 days, including completing state required testing
  • Comfortable with technology and the ability to evolve the claims systems and processes to drive better efficiencies and outcomes
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality, accuracy, and attention to detail
  • Integrity, ethics, and a strong sense of accountability in handling confidential and sensitive information

Benefits
  • Generous health-insurance package with nationwide coverage, vision, & dental
  • 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching
  • Competitive PTO policy - we want our employees fresh, healthy, happy, and energized!
  • Generous family leave policy after 8 months of continuous work
  • Work from anywhere to facilitate your work life balance
  • Apple laptop, large second monitor, and other quality-of-life equipment you may want. Technology is something that should make your life easier, not harder!

Additionally, we will
  • Listen to your feedback to enhance and improve upon the long-standing challenges of an adjuster and the claims role
  • Work toward reducing and eliminating all the administrative work from an adjuster role
  • Foster a culture of empathy, transparency, and empowerment in a remote-first environment
