Job Title: In-House Maintenance and Equipment Technician
Location: 4 McDonald's Units (Vandalia, York Commons, Needmore Rd, Keowee St)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Reports To: Owner/Operator or General Manager
Overview:
We are a 4-unit McDonald's franchise operator seeking a skilled and reliable In-House Maintenance and Equipment Technician to maintain and repair restaurant equipment and facilities across our locations. The ideal candidate will ensure all equipment operates efficiently, facilities are well-maintained, and operational disruptions are minimized to support our commitment to delivering exceptional customer experiences. This role requires technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Equipment Maintenance & Repair:
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on restaurant equipment, including fryers, grills, refrigeration units, ice machines, HVAC systems, and other kitchen appliances.
- Diagnose and repair equipment malfunctions to ensure minimal downtime during operational hours.
- Coordinate with McDonald's-approved vendors for complex repairs or warranty-related services.
Facility Upkeep:
- Conduct routine inspections and address issues such as electrical, lighting, and structural repairs to maintain the safety and functionality of restaurant facilities, including dining areas, restrooms, parking lots, and exterior signage.
- Ensure compliance with McDonald's brand standards and local health and safety regulations.
Inventory & Supplies Management:
- Manage inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and spare parts, ensuring adequate stock for timely repairs.
- Order parts and supplies through approved vendors while maintaining cost efficiency.
Emergency Response:
- Respond promptly to emergency maintenance issues (e.g., equipment failures) across all four locations to minimize operational disruptions.
- Provide on-call support for urgent repairs during non-standard hours, including evenings and weekends.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment service histories.
- Report on equipment performance and recommend upgrades or replacements to improve efficiency.
Collaboration & Support:
- Work closely with restaurant managers to address maintenance needs without interrupting daily operations.
- Train staff on basic equipment care and safety protocols to prevent damage and prolong equipment life.
Compliance & Safety:
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with McDonald's operational standards, OSHA regulations, and local building codes.
- Implement safety protocols to protect staff, customers, and equipment during maintenance tasks.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in HVAC, electrical, or equipment repair preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in equipment maintenance, preferably in a restaurant, hospitality, or quick-service environment.
- Familiarity with McDonald's equipment (e.g., fryers, grills, refrigeration systems) is a plus.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing restaurant equipment, including electrical and mechanical systems.
- Knowledge of HVAC systems, refrigeration units, and general facility maintenance.
- Ability to use diagnostic tools, hand tools, and power tools safely and effectively.
Soft Skills:
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Availability:
