Position In Brief:

A highly successful, rapidly growing real estate firm in the Las Vegas area is looking for a full time in-house Litigation Attorney. Litigation issues run the gambit from ADA claims to personal injury, civil appeals, and contract review. The ability to work on a variety of matters is imperative.

The ideal candidate for this position is capable of critical thinking, will be able to independently plan, prioritize, and organize a diverse workload in a fast-paced environment, will provide quality and impeccable work product, and will turnaround assignments in an expeditious manner. They will be able to communicate effectively and professionally with the leadership of the company, attorneys, paralegals, property managers, staff, vendors, contractors, and other internal and external resources.

The ideal candidate will be focused on our company’s growth and success. S/he is focused on our business during our core business hours, while understanding that pressing deadlines may require additional service on occasion. In-house litigation offers more work-life balance than most law firms. No billable hourly requirement.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Litigation Attorney will be responsible for litigation from A-Z

  • Provide daily support to all Las Vegas Westland employees regarding a variety of legal issues
  • Responding to complaints
  • Drafting motions
  • Propounding and responding to discovery
  • Devising case strategy
  • Drafting law amp; motion, briefs, and other legal research amp; writing
  • Conduct depositions
  • Retain and consult with expert witnesses
  • Attend site inspections and take witness statements
  • Negotiating settlements
  • Attending mediation and conducting arbitration hearings
  • Preparing for (and occasionally going to) trial

REQUIREMENTS

  • Actively Licensed by the State Bar of Nevada with no history of suspension or discipline.
  • Must have a minimum of 8 - 12 years of current, relevant work experience with substantial litigation experience, including jury trial and arbitration experience
  • California and/or Texas licensure and experience a bonus, but not required.

  • Talk and hear to communicate effectively with colleagues, outside counsel, and company leadership.
  • Occasionally stand, walk, and move about the office to access files and collaborate with team members.
  • Physical able to appear in-person (when necessary) at hearings, mediations, and arbitration
  • Physically able to stand, walk, and move about the courthouse for an extended period of time during trial and hearings/mediation/arbitration
  • Occasionally lift and carry items, such as legal files or document boxes, up to 20 pounds.
  • Possess specific vision abilities, including close vision, for extensive reading and computer use.

Work Environment: Temporarily, this position is 100% remote, with Westland providing all necessary technology. It may be required in the future that the employee will work in a professional corporate office environment. The noise level is typically quiet to moderate. The role may occasionally require travel to court appearances, depositions, or other off-site meetings.
