Job Title: High School Assistant Girls Basketball Coach
Location: Ogden Community Schools, Ogden, IA
The Ogden Community School District is seeking a positive, committed individual to serve as an Assistant Girls Basketball Coach for the Ogden Bulldogs. This position supports the continued growth of the girls basketball program by helping create an energetic, development-focused environment that encourages participation and success from youth levels through high school competition.
Position Summary
The Assistant Girls Basketball Coach will work collaboratively with the Head Coach to support daily program operations, athlete development, and team culture. The ideal candidate will demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching the game, building relationships with student-athletes, and contributing to a unified Bulldog basketball program.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Serve as the head coach of the junior varsity girls basketball team, including planning practices, managing competitions, and supporting the development of student-athletes preparing for varsity participation.
  • Assist with planning and conducting practices that emphasize skill development, teamwork, and fundamentals across all program levels.
  • Support game preparation, scouting, and varsity in-game coaching responsibilities as assigned.
  • Help supervise student-athletes during practices, contests, travel, and team activities.
  • Reinforce program expectations related to effort, sportsmanship, accountability, and academic success.
  • Build positive relationships with student-athletes while serving as a strong role model.
  • Assist in promoting offseason skill development and youth program engagement.
  • Communicate effectively with coaching staff, players, and families while supporting overall program goals.
  • Help manage equipment, uniforms, and organizational needs of the program.
  • Follow district policies and regulations established by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union.

Qualifications
  • Coaching or playing experience preferred.
  • Ability to teach basketball fundamentals and positively motivate student-athletes.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
  • Iowa coaching authorization or willingness to obtain certification.

Exempt.
