Position Overview: The Capitals Radio Host & Reporter serves as a key on-air personality and content contributor for the Washington Capitals Radio Network. This role is responsible for hosting pregame, intermission, and postgame coverage for all Capitals games, while also supporting year-round content development across radio, podcasts, digital platforms, social media, and television appearances.   • Serve as the on-air host for pregame, intermission, and postgame coverage on the Washington Capitals Radio Network for all regular season and playoff games.
  • Host broadcasts live from Capital One Arena for home games and from the network studio for road games.
  • Cover team practices, media availabilities, community events, and other team activities throughout the season.
  • Develop, research, and produce content for radio broadcasts, podcasts, digital channels, and social platforms.
  • Conduct interviews with players, coaches, executives, and hockey operations staff.
  • Cultivate relationships with local and national hockey media, league personnel, players, and team staff.
  • Identify, secure, and interview high-profile guests from across the hockey community for broadcast and digital content.
  • Collaborate with the team to develop storylines, features, and creative broadcast elements.
  • Produce and host podcast content that informs, entertains, and engages Capitals fans.
  • Create and repurpose content for social media, including game highlights, goal calls, interviews, and other audio and video assets.
  • Record and produce player liners and other broadcast elements for network programming.
  • Support sponsorship integrations and branded content opportunities within broadcasts.
  • Give creative ideas that enhance fan engagement and strengthen overall broadcast quality.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, Journalism, Broadcasting, Sports Media, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of broadcast, sports media, or on-air hosting experience.
  • Solid understanding of professional hockey experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience hosting live broadcasts, interviews, and long-form content.
  • Experience producing podcast, radio, or digital audio content.
  • Strong storytelling, interviewing, and written communication skills.
  • Experience creating content for social media platforms, including X, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and emerging channels.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Audition, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar audio/video editing software preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced live production environment
  • Strong relationship-building and networking skills.
  • On-camera experience in sports or news media preferred.
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, holidays, and travel as required by the NHL schedule.
Pay Range: $75k - $85k USD. Benefit Eligibility: This role is eligible to participate in health and welfare benefits.
