Vernon Township High School/Glen Meadow Middle School:
Band Director (Brass/Percussion Specialist)
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Valid New Jersey Instructional Certificate and Subject Area Endorsement or Eligibility
2. Brass/Percussion Specialist
3. Marching Battery experience preferred
4. Experience in Jazz and Marching Band preferred
Vernon Township School District's percussion/brass specialist/band director position is open.
The position includes working with percussion and wind students grades 6-12 with conducting
opportunities. Candidates that have marching band, marching battery/pit percussion, and jazz band
experience and are interested in working with the high school marching band program are desired.
Valid New Jersey Instructional Certificate and Subject Area Endorsement or Eligibility required.
 














  • Exceptional performance abilities in percussion (concert percussion, mallets, battery, drum-set)
  • Mastery in brass/percussion pedagogy
  • Expertise in teaching instrumental music
  • Proficiency with instrumental pedagogy, rehearsal techniques, and teaching methods
  • Experience in directing instrumental ensembles (concert band, marching band, jazz ensemble)
  • Willingness to participate in afterschool instrumental ensembles (marching band, jazz band)
  • Strong conducting and leadership skills
  • In-depth knowledge of current and classic wind band repertoire
  • Desire to participate in County, Area, Region and All-State music festivals
  • Passion for inspiring students and the local community to engage in the music program
  • Ability to support and enhance the overall music department
  • Ability to maintain a positive learning environment
  • Positive interpersonal and communication skills with colleagues and community supporters
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Digital fluency is required
  • Comfortable working in a team-teaching environment

 Salary Range: $57,330 $107,184 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications, and in accordance with VTEA contract salary guide.
