General Description The Audio Visual Technician performs audio/visual services including system/equipment maintenance and troubleshooting, equipment support for meetings, video recording, streaming coordination, camera production, video production and video editing to support the County's communications. Provides support services to all departments and staff regarding audio/visual equipment, and meeting support with a focus on Board of County Commissioners meetings. Actively supports the County's public communications efforts with audio, video, presentations and graphics.
Work may be performed during and after normal business hours (may include evenings or early mornings) for the recording or set up of public meetings and events. The primary schedule for this full-time position is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, although will be required to flex time due to events. More information can be found on the Federal Student Aid Website: Public Service Loan Forgiveness | Federal Student Aid Essential Functions Leads the recording and streaming of public meetings such as the Board of County Commissioners, Planning and Development Commission (PDC), workshops, presentations, and other special events using audio/video technology including soundboards, switchers, mixers, speakers, displays, and streaming platforms. Tests, troubleshoots, and updates microphones, speakers, cameras, displays and other audio/visual equipment to ensure smooth functioning. Creates and coordinates graphics and photos for live meetings, videos, and presentations.
Sets-up and cleans-up equipment before and after staff and/or community meetings/events as directed by the Communications Manager and/or County Administrator (or designee) to effectively carry out the responsibilities of the job. Provides technical assistance to presenters, County staff and Commission Officers when required. Assists with video shoots and content production, including audio, video, lighting and staging set ups.
Ensures the safe storage, integrity, and organization of digital audio, video and photo files. Coordinates integration of third-party software or services for various systems that support audio/visual functionality for the County. Assists with purchasing technology as well as making recommendations on what equipment to purchase with a focus on ADA accessibility.
Provides training and documentation to end users for meeting rooms and audio/visual systems. Maintains accurate records of equipment inventory and equipment problems. Produces audio and video in accordance with ADA accessibility requirements, keeping up with the latest standards.
Coordinates maintenance/installation/updates of audio/visual systems with county staff and third-party vendors. Drives and/or operates a county vehicle or equipment and must obey all safety policies, and roadway rules and laws. Performs other duties as required.
Minimum Requirements Education, Training, and Experience Associate's degree from an accredited college or technical school in Audio/Visual Technology, Digital Media, Broadcast Production, Communications, Information Technology, or a closely related field. One (1) year experience working with audio/visual equipment to include set up, operation, testing, troubleshooting and live streaming. An equivalent combination of education, training, and directly related experience may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Audio Engineering, Broadcast Production, Communications, Information Technology, or a related field. One (1) year experience working with audio/visual equipment to include set up, operation, testing, troubleshooting and live streaming. Skills and Abilities Requires ability to maintain courteous and effective relations with County staff, elected officials, community interest groups and the public.
Ability to work before or after normal business hours for the recording of public meetings, as required, and/or perform routine maintenance and systems upgrades/repairs. Knowledge of audio/visual systems and components including broadcasting equipment and teleconferencing equipment. Knowledge of and ability to operate common video production equipment such as cameras, switchers, audio mixers and editors.
Knowledge and ability to operate video and audio recording equipment including cameras and microphones for recording video and audio in the field. Knowledge and experience with video file formats and online communications tools. Excellent customer service skills, including ability to communicate technical and other data effectively, both in person and in writing.
Ability to effectively communicate (verbally and in writing) in a clear, confident manner using proper grammar. Ability to use Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. Must have strong working knowledge of computers and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite of Products (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
Certificates and Licenses Valid Florida Driver License or must obtain within 30 days of establishing residency in Florida. Must have or be able to obtain within 90 days certification in FEMA National Incident Management System (NIMS) courses: IS-100.c: Introduction to the Incident Command System (ICS) IS-700.b: An Introduction to the National Incident Management System Physical Requirements/Work Environment Requires a combination of sitting, standing, and walking. The job involves frequent lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds
The job requires occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, balancing, twisting, and reaching above shoulders. The job requires the completion of tasks that involve simple grasping, pushing, pulling, fine manual manipulation, typing, operating foot controls/levers, and driving automotive equipment. The job requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, depth perception and color vision, hearing, and speaking.
