Job description

Position: Document Control Tech Aide III
Location: 720 Green Valley Drive Eastaboga, AL 36260
Duration: 5 Months.

Client: Southern Company


Position Overview

The Document Control Tech Aide III supports engineering records management activities through large- and small-format document scanning, metadata entry, and archival support. This onsite role requires experience handling delicate, aging engineering drawings and working with document management systems.

The ideal candidate brings strong attention to detail, familiarity with engineering drawings, and hands-on experience using scanning and PDF software.

Key Responsibilities

Document Scanning & Digitization

  • Operate small and large format scanners and plotters
  • Scan engineering drawings (including oversized and fragile documents)
  • Ensure high-quality digital reproduction of physical documents
  • Capture and input accurate metadata from scanned drawings

Records Management Support

  • Support records management processes and archival procedures
  • Maintain accurate indexing and file organization
  • Handle delicate and aging documents with care
  • Assist with boxing, organizing, and relocating document files

Data Entry & Systems

  • Enter metadata and drawing details into document management systems
  • Utilize PDF software for editing, indexing, and organizing scanned files
  • Maintain personal timekeeping using the company’s timekeeping system

Administrative & Physical Requirements

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel)
  • Lift and move boxes of drawings as required
  • Work onsite at the Calhoun County Plant

Required Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years of experience using small and large document scanners and plotters
  • Familiarity with engineering drawings and document formats
  • Basic knowledge of records management processes
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Excel)
  • Working knowledge of scanning and PDF software
  • Ability to handle fragile and aging documents carefully
  • Ability to lift and move boxes as needed
