JOB SUMMARY:

The Jazz are looking for an energetic and charismatic In-Arena Emcee to bring the game day experience to life! We are searching for someone who has a passionate and dynamic voice, a strong and distinct presence, and a love for Utah Jazz basketball. As an in-arena voice for the Utah Jazz, you will command the microphone, energize the crowd, emcee several contests and promotions each night, and engage fans on the concourse and throughout the arena. This is a part-time, seasonal position and the candidate must be available to work all preseason, regular, and postseason games. The NBA regular season is from October through April. The post-season could extend into June.

Applicants are required to submit a 60 second video recording (no longer, please) introducing yourself and any pertinent information you would like us to know about yourself. This should be video, not just audio. Applicants should also submit their personal highlight reel of past professional experience.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act as one of the in-arena personalities by emceeing contests, facilitating nightly promotions, and driving fan excitement across all levels of the arena.
  • Foster collaborative and mutually respectful partnerships with directors and fellow talent to achieve unified entertainment goals.
  • Demonstrate extreme agility in high-pressure scenarios, utilizing an in-ear monitor to pivot seamlessly during live game-day entertainment.
  • Exhibit a growth mindset by actively applying feedback to refine performance.
  • Utilize superior interpersonal skills to forge meaningful connections with our diverse community of Jazz fans.
  • Maintain strict punctuality for all production meetings, technical rehearsals, and home games.
  • Embody a consistently vibrant and energetic persona that radiates throughout the venue.
  • Ensure availability for afternoon production calls (starting at 1 P.M.) and evening gameday rehearsals (starting at 4:30 P.M).
  • Observe the crowd and the environment for any safety issues and respond appropriately as needed
  • Protect the reputation of the company
  • Exemplify the Utah Jazz mission and values: transparent, all in, community obsessed, one team, and scrappy
  • Accept other duties, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • A minimum of five years' experience in live event emceeing or on-court sports hosting required.
  • Ability to enunciate clearly, accurately, and project to a large crowd.
  • Possess a background in unscripted commentary or improvisational performance.
  • Maintain meticulous attention to detail to effectively represent and deliver key messaging for our corporate partners.
  • A strong, distinct voice is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

ย PHYSICAL DEMANDS:ย 

  • Due to the nature of this role's event and gameday work, the employee must live within a commutable distance from the ย Salt Lake City area for the duration of the season.
  • Evening and weekend work will be required, encompassing every Utah Jazz home game with potential opportunities to host various partner events or corporate activations.
  • This person must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • This is a non-benefitted, seasonal, part-time position. Pay is based on a game rate.
  • This person must be able to communicate and express themselves both written and verbally.
