We are seeking a detail-oriented Air Import Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate is highly organized, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and has a strong understanding of international freight forwarding and air import operations.
What you will do:
Coordinating Operations with Airfreight Imports
  • Timely processing of import air documents including registration of shipments.

  • Communicates automation details to subcontractors for reporting to customs.

  • Monitors clearance and delivery of cargo within free storage/holding times.

  • Checking for special instruction on documents.

  • Invoicing and collection of correct charges.

  • Authorizing delivery of air freight.

  • Monitors availability and in conjunction with subcontractors, ensure timely collection of cargo, check in to warehouse and reporting to customs.

  • Follow up on delivery with truckers.

Financial and Accounting Responsibilities
  • Approves freight invoices and credit notes, and monitors transport waiting time costs.

  • Pay airline terminal charges, and any other related costs upon arrival, to ensure storage is avoided and no added costs occurred.

  • Prepare payment vouchers and write checks for authorization, and presentation.

  • Processes air freight debtors & creditors in an expeditious manner by verifying they are correct prior to passing them to accounts for payment and providing any supporting documentation for overdue payments, thus reducing impediments to prompt payment.

  • Ensures the department (cost center) achieves its financial and quality objectives.

Client and Supplier Management
  • Keeps record of discrepancies via the Innovations and Incidents Management (IIM) to ensure compliance.
