Job description

Project Manager

General Tool Company | Aerospace & Defense Manufacturing | Full-Time

⚠️ Aerospace/Defense industry experience required

This isn’t a job for someone who wants to keep their head down and clock out. This is a role for a driven, high-energy leader who wants to own outcomes, build relationships, and make a real mark on a growing company. As a Project Manager at GTC, you’ll be a highly visible force — inside the building and in front of customers — driving complex aerospace and defense projects from kickoff to closeout. If you thrive under pressure, love variety, and want a clear path to move up, keep reading.

You’re Not Just an Employee. You’re an Owner.

We believe that everyone who helps build this company should share in its success. That’s why we created Ownership For All — giving every eligible full-time employee an ownership stake in the business. From day one, you’re not just joining a team — you’re becoming an owner. At GTC, your wins aren’t just good for the company. They’re good for you.

What You’ll Own

You’ll lead cross-functional teams through every phase of the project lifecycle — from planning and design through execution, delivery, and closeout. You’re the hub that keeps everything and everyone connected.

  • Lead project teams with clear direction and sharp prioritization, keeping functional groups focused and moving
  • Own the full project lifecycle: planning, definition, design, development, testing, implementation, execution, and closeout
  • Drive projects to success within established cost, schedule, and scope — and course-correct fast when things shift
  • Identify constraints before they become crises — and bring corrective actions, not just problem reports
  • Develop, review, and implement changes to scope, cost, and schedule within prescribed guidelines
  • Lead production meetings, project steering committees, and phase gate reviews
  • Brief project status — financial, schedule, risk, quality, technical, and customer satisfaction — directly to the Senior Leadership Team
  • Keep executive management informed of significant developments and your recommended path forward
  • Partner with functional managers to keep all project activities current and improve overall throughput
  • Collaborate with fellow PMs and functional area leaders to resolve scheduling conflicts and resource competition across projects
  • Build and sustain strong customer relationships while driving internal improvement and technical problem solving
  • Bring a high sense of urgency and a can-do attitude — every single day

What You Bring

  • Aerospace or defense manufacturing experience — this one is required, not preferred
  • 3–5 years in a program or project management role, ideally in a highly regulated environment
  • Energy, drive, and motivation — non-negotiable. This role rewards people who want to lead
  • Associate’s degree or higher in business, engineering, or a related field — or equivalent experience that proves the point
  • Exceptional communicator at every level of the organization and directly with customers — written and in person
  • Proven ability to analyze and clarify complex information, both qualitatively and with tools like Excel and MS Project
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with a track record of getting teams to deliver

Why GTC?

  • Ownership For All — you’re a stakeholder from day one
  • High visibility role with real upward mobility — this is not a dead end
  • Variety and challenge every day — no two projects are the same
  • Work with some of the most demanding customers and standards in the world
  • A leadership team that wants to hear from you — you’ll brief them directly
  • A culture built on accountability, trust, and getting things done right

Equal Opportunity Employer M/F/D/V

All applicants will be considered based upon experience and knowledge, without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, ancestry, marital, disabled, or veteran status. GTC is committed to creating and maintaining a workforce environment free from any form of discrimination or harassment.
