Job description

Role: Epic Systems Implementation Analyst 

Location: Oakland, CA 

Duration: 6+ months 

Summary: The Epic Systems Implementation Analyst plays a critical role in the planning, design, implementation, and optimization of Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems within healthcare organizations. This position collaborates with clinical, administrative, and IT teams to ensure the Epic system aligns with organizational goals, supports efficient workflows, and enhances patient care delivery. The Implementation Analyst is responsible for configuring, testing, and supporting Epic modules during implementation projects, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and best practices. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • System Implementation: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan, design, and execute the implementation of Epic EHR modules, tailoring configurations to meet clinical and operational needs. 

  • Workflow Analysis: Analyze existing healthcare workflows, identify inefficiencies, and recommend solutions to optimize processes within the Epic system. 

  • Configuration and Customization: Configure Epic applications to align with departmental requirements, ensuring adherence to industry standards and organizational goals. 

  • Data Migration and Validation: Assist in data conversion, migration, and validation to ensure accurate and secure transfer of information during implementation. 

  • Testing and Quality Assurance: Develop and execute test plans, including scripts and user acceptance testing, to validate system functionality and resolve issues. 

  • Training and Support: Provide end-user training, create documentation, and offer ongoing support during and after go-live to ensure successful adoption. 

  • Troubleshooting: Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate with Epic technical support and vendors to resolve complex problems. 

  • Compliance and Security: Ensure configurations comply with HIPAA and other healthcare data privacy and security regulations. 

  • Project Coordination: Participate in project planning, maintain status reports, and communicate progress to stakeholders, ensuring timely delivery of implementation milestones. 

  • System Optimization: Identify opportunities for enhancements post-implementation, recommending updates or new features to improve user experience and operational efficiency. 

Qualifications: 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in healthcare informatics, computer science, computer engineering, information technology, or a related field. 

  • Experience: 2+ years of full-time experience in working with Epic EHR systems, including implementation, configuration, or support. Prior healthcare IT or clinical operations experience is preferred. 

  • Certifications: Epic certification in relevant modules (e.g., Ambulatory, Inpatient, Beaker, or Revenue Cycle) required within 6 months of hire. Certification in healthcare IT (e.g., HIT) is a plus. 

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Epic system configuration, data analysis, and reporting tools. Knowledge of SQL or similar query languages is a plus. 

  • Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities to assess workflows and translate requirements into system solutions. 

  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including clinicians, administrators, and IT teams. 

  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with HIPAA, healthcare workflows, and clinical operations. 

  • Adaptability: Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment and stay current with Epic updates and industry trends.
