Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse, Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit – Wisconsin

Start Date: September 14, 2026

Location: Wisconsin

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 12-hour day and night shifts (0700-1930 and 1900-0730), every other weekend and some holidays, no call required

Highlights:
  • Cardiovascular and Cardiothoracic Surgery ICU with 27-bed acuity-adaptable unit specializing in CABG, valve repair/replacement, heart and lung transplants, LVAD, and complex cardiac medical patients
  • Patient assignments typically 1-2 patients based on acuity; 2-3 patient ratio when lower acuity
  • Epic charting system with 24 hours of orientation provided
  • Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, physical therapy, and dedicated unit secretaries
  • Dynamic environment at a Magnet-designated, Trauma Level I facility recognized as a leading teaching institution and referral center
  • Advanced technology including CRRT (NxStage), IABP, Impella, LVAD, ECMO, and specialized monitoring equipment
Requirements:
  • Active Wisconsin RN license or compact state license
  • Current AHA BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Minimum 2 years of acute care RN experience within the last 3 years in CVICU specialty
  • Previous travel nursing experience required
  • CVICU experience required; Cardiothoracic Surgery and/or Acuity Adaptable area experience preferred
  • Experience and knowledge of NxStage CVVH machine required
  • Trauma Level I experience required
  • Proficiency with Epic charting system required
  • Must successfully pass pre-assignment telemetry examination with strict passing criteria (100% accuracy on lethal rhythms, 80% overall passing score)
  • COVID-19 vaccine not required; Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
  • Must reside 50 miles or more from the facility
  • Floating to other units as needed required
