Position Overview
At City Year Denver, the Impact Manager (IM) leads and develops a team of Student Success Coaches (SSCs) as idealistic, emerging leaders and youth development practitioners focused on strengthening schools and supporting students to improve academic performance and durable skill development.Job Description
Minimum Qualifications
High school degree or GED required.
2 years of experience in youth development, people management, education, or comparable experience
Authorized documentation to work in the United States
Ability to pass criminal background checks as required for working with school-age children
What You'll Do
Student Success Coach Team Management
Lead, manage, and coach up to two teams of Student Success Coaches between the ages of 17-25 through their year of service.
Provide direct coaching to SSCs to deliver tutoring support to students through academic and personal development activities.
Inspire and build trust among SSCs, helping foster a personal and team connection to City Year's culture and values
Manage team dynamics through facilitating start-of-year (SOY), mid-year (MY), and end-of-year (EOY) personal management plans and biweekly check in sessions with each Student Success Coach.
Lead weekly team meetings to support service implementation and communal belonging.
Support the SSC service experience through routine check-ins, encouraging learning and leadership opportunities.
Ensure student success coaches successfully meet AmeriCorps service requirements, including service hours, documentation, and adherence to prohibited activities and program policies
Consistently observe service implementation through weekly walk-throughs, observation, coaching, and targeted feedback of SSC session plans.
Address performance, conduct, and service-related concerns in accordance with City Year policies, procedures, and AmeriCorps requirements.
Service Implementation
Develop and manage partnerships with school administration, teachers, and staff to ensure the necessary conditions and resources for SSCs to deliver academic interventions and durable skills development.
Lead, manage, and coach teams of SSCs to implement City Year's WSWC service model, including classroom support, individualized tutoring, schoolwide initiatives, extended learning time, and other supports aligned to school priorities.
Monitor and analyze student-level data to identify trends and improve whole-school and small-group support.
Coach team members to deliver differentiated tutoring and coaching for students in English-Language Arts, Math, and interpersonal skills development
Live out CY values in relationships with SSCs and school partners.
Use and interpret student- and program-level data to identify trends, guide coaching priorities, and inform decisions with school partners.
Lead bi-weekly Student Progress Monitoring and data reviews with SSCs and school partners to regularly track progress against performance indicators to monitor goal attainment.
School Partner Management
Serve as the primary liaison between City Year and the school, building strong relationships with principals, teachers, and staff to align service with school priorities and follow through on shared decisions.
Define mutual goals aligned to the school's major improvement strategies and the conditions for success; then, participate in regular meetings with school leadership and partners to discuss progress, needs, and ongoing conditions for success.
Establish and manage a partnership calendar that includes regular meeting times, formal/informal progress monitoring reviews of student performance data.
Foster a collaborative approach to student development, assessment, progress monitoring, and school climate/culture building.
Lead biweekly partnership check-ins with designated school liaison(s).
Foster collaboration/communication with teachers, principals, and liaisons through consistent meetings/check-ins, participation in school-based professional development opportunities, and supporting completion of Start-of-Year/End-of-Year partner surveys.
Consult with the Impact Leadership Team on practice-related questions, ideas, and strategies to help translate performance data to leverage in-school partnership development.
Participate in regular meetings with school leadership and partners to discuss progress, needs, and conditions for success.
Organizational Initiatives & Site Support
Participate in Impact Department working groups to develop service improvements, tools and resources, and SSC trainings.
Partner across City Year Denver's departments to ensure that site-wide goals are met, including, but not limited to, the SSC applicant interview process, stakeholder engagement, event and service day participation, and cross-departmental committees.
Additional responsibilities as needed, including department or site-wide special projects.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience coaching, supervising, or developing young adults
Experience working in schools or youth development settings
Experience using data to inform decisions
Experience with instructional coaching and building structures for team experience that mutually reinforces a positive learning environment and accountability to results.

Working Conditions
Works primarily on-site at two partner schools, with additional time spent at the City Year office for meetings, training, and team gatherings.
Follows a schedule aligned with school-day hours (typically between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.), with occasional early mornings, evenings, or weekend hours for events, trainings, or service days.
May require travel between multiple school sites within the district and occasional local travel for City Year events.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced, youth-centered school environment, with a noise level that can range from moderate to high.
Occasional lifting or carrying of materials (e.g., event supplies, training materials) up to ~20 lbs.
Reliable transportation to and from school sites and office locations is required. [Requires a valid driver's license for travel as part of job duties and/or ability and willingness to navigate public transit system.]
Must have reliable internet access when participating in any required virtual meetings or trainings.
Compensation
The salary for this position is $55,000 - 58,000 annually. Compensation is commensurate with experience and aligned with internal equity practices.
