Job description

Description
The purpose of this position is to provide consistent administration and enforcement of procedures designed to protect the associates, assets, and guests of Publix facilities. This includes providing onsite security for support facilities, enforcing access control protocols by limiting access to only authorized and properly identified individuals and vehicles, and responding to and assisting with interruptions of business operations.
Responsibilities:
  • maintaining control of access to Publix facilities by associates, guests, and other non-facility personnel.
  • providing access control, routing, and shipping/receiving processing for product/equipment deliveries.
  • conducting personal observations of activities within the facility and reporting incidents or procedural deficiencies that are identified.
  • maintaining accurate security related records and documentation to include any/all activity that occurs, outside normal business.
  • communicating information to security supervisors, associates, or facility management.

Other Compensation Information
Night differential: A $.75 per hour night differential is paid to associates regularly scheduled to work any hours between midnight and 3:00 a.m. (this does not include shifts that end at midnight or begin at 3:00 a.m.).
Weekend differential: A $2.00 per hour weekend differential is paid to associates for hours worked between 12:00 a.m. Saturday through 11:59 p.m. Sunday.
Year End Bonus
To reward associates for their contributions to the company for the calendar year, Publix provides a Holiday Bonus in November. In the first year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to 15 hours of pay, and in the second year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to one week's pay if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check. In subsequent years, the bonus is equal to two weeks' pay.
Required Qualifications
  • At least 20 years of age
  • Have a valid drivers license
  • Possess a Class D Security Officer's License or independently obtain a Class D Security Officer's License within 90 days of your date of hire
  • Able to withstand walking and standing for long periods of time
  • Able to work any shift, including, but not limited to days, nights, late nights, early mornings, weekends and holidays
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to perform mathematical computations
  • Excellent telephone communication skills
  • Able to use a two-way radio
  • Intermediate knowledge of the TDPS (Transportation Driver Performance System)
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Outlook
  • Able and willing to adjust one's style or approach in response to differing circumstances or to work in ambiguous situations
  • Capable of working effectively without close supervision or guidance
  • Able to set priorities, plan and coordinate work activities, schedule staff, and obtain and manage resources so that work objectives are accomplished on time and within budget
  • Capable of working productively and effectively when faced with stressful work situations and time pressures
  • Able to develop and maintain professional, trusting, positive, and productive working relationships with associates, managers, customers, and vendors
  • Have the ability to attend to and verify the accuracy and completeness of detailed information in documents or on the computer, such as prices, quantity, weights, lists or data
