Job description

Build your future and come grow with us! Immel Construction is seeking an Estimator with prior GC experience to join our Employee-Owned company. In this role, you'll use your expertise to prepare accurate estimates and lead take-offs for self-performed work.
What You'll Do
  • Prepare and analyze cost estimates for labor, materials, and equipment.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, owner/architect interviews, and sales discussions to define scope and approach.
  • Conduct detailed quantity take-offs and pricing of all project components.
  • Review plans and specifications, communicating requirements to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with project managers to identify value-engineering opportunities and cost-saving alternatives.
  • Leverage historical data-unit prices, purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity reports, and past estimates-to inform bid pricing.
  • Apply advanced knowledge of construction techniques, principles, and processes to determine labor and material needs.
  • Prepare budget estimates and estimates for self-performed work.
  • Procure subcontractor quotes, ensuring proper coverage prior to bid.
  • Consult with subcontractors and vendors to formulate accurate estimates, resolve issues, and qualify partners post-bid.
  • Conduct studies and develop repeat-customer pricing data.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships for long-term success.
  • Oversee completion and submission of Prequalification Statements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Architecture, or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of estimating experience in a general contractor environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and estimating software (OST experience preferred).
  • Keen attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
  • OSHA 10 certification (or willingness to obtain within 12 months).
