Role Overview:

The experienced CNC Machinist is responsible for independently setting up, making offset adjustments, and operating CNC milling centers (3-, 4-, and 5-axis) to produce high-quality precision components. This role requires strong technical expertise, the ability to work with minimal supervision, and ownership of part quality through in-process and final inspections. Experience machining plastics, particularly acrylic, is a plus but not required. 

Work Environment: Farmington, CT Onsite M-F

Key Responsibilities:

CNC Setup & Operation 

  • Independently set up and operate 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC milling centers.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, GD&T, and work instructions.
  • Adjust offsets, feeds, and speeds as required to optimize quality and cycle time. 

Machining & Materials 

  • Machine a variety of materials, with a strong emphasis on plastics, including acrylic. 
    Inspection & Quality
  • Perform in-process and first piece inspection of parts using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, bore gages, height gages, optical comparator).
  • Verify conformance to drawings, specifications, control plans, and quality requirements.
  • Document inspection results and communicate nonconformances to Quality or Engineering as required. 

Safety, Documentation & Housekeeping 

  • Follow all safety, environmental, and housekeeping standards at all times.
  • Maintain organized work areas, tooling, and fixtures.
  • Adhere to documented work instructions, control plans, and operator description sheets. 

Critical Competencies for Success:

  • Preferred 3 years of CNC machining experience, with demonstrated ability to independently set up and run milling centers. 
  • Proven experience operating CNC milling machines, including 3-, 4-, and 5-axis configurations.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and GD&T.
  • Experience performing part inspections and making machining adjustments based on inspection feedback.
  • Solid understanding of cutting tools, workholding, and machining best practices. 

Physical & Work Environment Requirements 

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and safely lift materials, tooling, or fixtures as required.
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machine noise, coolants, and moving equipment. 
     

Pay range: $25-$30/hr

Within this range, individual pay is determined based on skills, experience, and qualifications relative to the job requirements. Base pay information is aligned with market location and may be subject to prevailing wage laws, if applicable.
