What are the 7 types of occupations?

Occupations can be categorized into seven broad types: professional, technical, managerial, clerical, service, skilled trades, and labor. The IMCA (International Marine Contractors Association) often involves roles in technical, managerial, and skilled trades within the maritime and offshore industries. Understanding these categories helps job seekers identify suitable career paths and required skills or certifications.

What kinds of cases does an Independent Mental Capacity Advocate (IMCA) typically handle on a daily basis?

IMCAs commonly support individuals who lack the capacity to make critical decisions about their medical treatment, accommodation, or long-term care arrangements. This might involve attending meetings with medical or social care teams, reviewing case documentation, and ensuring the person's wishes and best interests are fully represented. The role often involves liaising with healthcare professionals, local authorities, and sometimes the individual's family or friends. By handling sensitive, complex situations, IMCAs play a crucial part in safeguarding the rights of people who cannot advocate for themselves.

Which 3 jobs will survive AI?

For IMCA professionals, jobs that require complex problem-solving, hands-on technical skills, and human judgment are more likely to survive AI automation. These include roles such as marine surveyors, offshore safety inspectors, and technical trainers, which rely on specialized knowledge, physical presence, and interpersonal skills. Continuous certification and practical experience remain essential in these fields to adapt to technological changes.

What is an IMCA job?

An IMCA job typically refers to a position related to the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA), which sets standards for offshore, marine, and underwater industries. Jobs under IMCA guidelines often include roles such as divers, ROV operators, vessel crew, and offshore managers. These positions require adherence to IMCA safety and operational standards to ensure efficiency and safety in marine contracting work.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Imca position, and why are they important?

To thrive as an IMCA (Independent Mental Capacity Advocate), you need a thorough understanding of mental capacity legislation, strong advocacy skills, and relevant qualifications such as IMCA training or a related background in health or social care. Familiarity with case management software, secure communication methods, and legal documentation systems is typically required. These competencies are vital to ensuring clients' rights and preferences are upheld in complex decision-making processes.

The Industrial Macromolecular Crystallography Association - Collaborative Access Team (IMCA-CAT) and Associated Universities, Inc. (AUI) seek an inventive macromolecular crystallography scientist to join the IMCA-CAT team in accelerating pharmaceutical drug discovery through synchrotron-based structural biology research. The IMCA consortium, which funds and provides strategic guidance to IMCA-CAT, consists of AbbVie, Bristol Myers Squibb, Evotec, Johnson&Johnson, Merck, Novartis, Pfizer, and Relay Therapeutics. As an employee of AUI, you will be based at the center of the team's operations at the Advanced Photon Source (APS), Argonne National Laboratory, near Chicago, IL. POSITION DESCRIPTION:
This is an exciting time to join IMCA-CAT. The team is commissioning the recently upgraded beamline that will profoundly increase capacity and dramatically expand capability for challenging research projects. As a member of the IMCA-CAT team, you will be an integral part of these commissioning activities, participate in maintaining the flow of diffraction data for pharmaceutical research projects, and contribute to innovative developments that expand the experiment envelope. You will work closely with IMCA-CAT colleagues in an inclusive and respectful environment, and will be expected to take initiative and contribute to the team effort.
On any given day, you will do one or more of these things:
  • Ensure the beamline produces data of the highest quality.
  • Conduct high-resolution, single-crystal protein X-ray diffraction experiments in support of drug discovery research efforts at both IMCA-CAT and a variety of external synchrotron sources.
  • Lead the effort in managing incoming and outgoing samples.
  • Manage test crystals for quality control performance of the beamline.
  • Contribute to the weekly maintenance of beamline equipment, including robot and staging dewars.
  • Develop and expand the structural biology services that support pharmaceutical structure-based drug design.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of technologies that expand the experiment envelope.
  • Establish efficient protocols for accelerating data acquisition while enhancing data security.
  • Collaboratively develop automated methods for acquiring quality data from challenging samples.
  • Engage in the technical development of new strategies for ultra-high throughput.
  • Collaborate with the team on strategically aligned research and development projects.
  • Communicate with researchers and present at meetings.
  • Manage and maintain the biochemistry laboratory space.
DESIRED SKILLS and EXPERIENCE:
  • BS/BA in a science-related industry plus 5+ years of experience working in the pharmaceutical industry, specializing in macromolecular crystallography.
  • Outstanding experimental skills and strong technical skills.
  • Highly collaborative and team-oriented approach to conducting work and solving problems.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Deeply proactive approach to meeting and exceeding goals.
  • Ability to routinely lift racks of samples (5 lbs), baskets of samples in liquid nitrogen (15 lbs), and shipping dewars (up to 35 lbs).
  • Ability to meet requirements for site access to Argonne National Laboratory.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The compensation for this position is between $100,000 - $114,000 annually based on experience and education. AUI offers a full and competitive benefits package.
