Job description

Key Responsibilities

  • Blueprint Analysis: Review and interpret architectural, structural, and mechanical drawings, specifications, and project narratives.
  • Material & Labor Takeoffs: Perform accurate quantity takeoffs for ductwork, piping, equipment (chillers, VAVs, rooftop units), and installation hours.
  • Vendor & Subcontractor Coordination: Solicit, review, and level competitive pricing quotes from equipment manufacturers and specialized subcontractors.
  • Bid Preparation: Build comprehensive cost proposals including detailed scopes of work, explicit inclusions, exclusions, and value engineering options.
  • Project Handover: Transition won bids smoothly to project managers and field superintendents with complete documentation and budget breakdowns.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: 3 to 5+ years of mechanical construction, project management, or HVAC estimating experience.
  • Technical Knowledge: Deep familiarity with HVAC system types, mechanical codes (IMC, ASHRAE), and local building requirements.
  • Software Literacy: Proficiency in MS Excel and industry-specific estimating/takeoff software (e.g., Accubid, Bluebeam, Trimble, or Viewpoint).
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with general contractors, vendors, and internal sales teams.
