Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:
This position will play a critical role in supporting high-impact research initiatives. This individual will lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers and scientists in the research and development of automated cell analysis consumables and analyzers. The role involves close collaboration with both internal departments and external partners to drive innovation and achieve research objectives.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Lead a multidisciplinary team in the design and execution of experiments to support research goals towards the development of a new type of cell analyzers.
• Make and guide key technical decisions throughout the course of research and development activities.
• Perform hands-on laboratory work as part of active experimental programs.
• Coordinate closely with internal teams and external collaborators to align project milestones and deliverables.
• Prepare and present project status updates and technical reports to stakeholders.
• Establishes and monitors direct report performance and development goals, assigns accountabilities, sets objectives, establishes priorities, and provides continuous feedback and recognition on performance.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
• Ph.D. in Engineering, Physics, or a closely related field is preferred.
o Additional relevant experience may be substituted for advanced degrees.
• Minimum five years of relevant industry experience.
• Proven experience integrating complex, automated life sciences or clinical systems
• Strongly preferred: experience in in vitro diagnostics, including development, testing, or system integration.
• Supervisory/management experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Strong understanding of in-vitro diagnostics instrument and/or consumables design
• Expert level knowledge and experience in one or more of the following:
o Imaging optic design and imaging cameras / sensors
o Cellular imaging processing and analysis
o Electrodes, electronics, and cellular impedance techniques such as the Coulter counter
• Solid foundation in analytical techniques, experimental design, and statistical analysis
• Solid leadership skills with demonstrated knowledge and understanding of staff management practices and processes and the ability to establish accountabilities and expectations and manage performance to achieve results
• Demonstrated critical thinking and analytical skills, as well as the ability to handle complex situations and demonstrate sound judgment and problem-solving.
• Exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to diverse audiences.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This position requires the ability to communicate and exchange information, utilize equipment necessary to perform the job, and move about the office.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position will operate in the following areas of the organization:
• Traditional office environment;
• Chemistry and BSL-1/BSL-2 lab environment;
• Machine shop/equipment building environment.
