Job Description
Job Summary:
The Video Signal Processing and Algorithms (VSP&A) team is seeking to hire a Senior Image Processing Engineer to solve problems and implement solutions related to infrared image and video quality and video analytics. Our team develops practical and often novel algorithms to be deployed in our infrared imaging products and production systems. Additional tasks range from data analysis, to understanding academic papers and implementing them, to validating algorithm performance.
Candidates must be self-motivated and able to collaborate with a cross-functional team as well as work independently on complex problems in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
Must be US Citizen or PERM Resident
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Develop image processing algorithms in MATLAB to be integrated into embedded systems.
  • Evaluate and benchmark existing algorithms for deployment.
  • Optimize imaging pipeline parameters for image quality excellence.
  • Develop software tools needed for evaluation and optimization processes.
  • Act as an algorithms expert during system level hardware/software/firmware integration.
  • Drive efforts to verify and validate algorithms in new product designs.
  • Prepare and manage test protocols and reports according to external and internal standards.
  • Tabulate test data to support design specifications and verify algorithm performance.
  • Collaborate with other engineers, external consultants, and design firms to assist in debugging and optimizing system performance as it relates to image signal processing pipelines.
  • Utilize image processing to assist production in yield improvement efforts.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of patent applications.
  • Evaluate new technologies related to infrared image processing including computer vision and machine learning.

Job Qualifications:
  • Teledyne FLIR requires employees to be a US Persons (US Citizen or permanent resident).
  • B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or applicable technical field (M.S. or PhD desired).
  • Experience in image processing algorithm design and optimization for real-time implementation on embedded platforms (e.g., programmable logic devices).
  • Proficiency in MATLAB programming language is required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required to develop novel solutions.
  • Must have a demonstrated ability to effectively and clearly communicate technical concepts, ideas, and knowledge to other individuals and teams with excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to build relationships and collaborate with the primary team and cross-functional teams to seek optimum image processing solutions.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in Python, C/C++, VHDL/Verilog, OpenCL/CUDA.
  • Experience with rapid development and prototyping in MATLAB.
  • Experience in Verilog-based firmware development using MATLAB-Simulink- HDL workflows.
  • Familiarity with infrared or CMOS image sensors and serial sensor interface protocols.
  • Working knowledge of electro-optical and opto-mechanical system architecture.
  • Experience in objective and subjective image and video quality assessment.
  • Experience with verification and validation (unit testing).

Salary Range:
$113,600.00-$151,400.000
