Senior Professional, Engineering - Avionics Systems

At PDS Tech Commercial, we are partnering with a leading global aviation organization to hire a Senior Professional, Engineering - Avionics Systems. This is a high-impact opportunity to shape the next generation of aircraft avionics-where advanced systems integration, certification rigor, and in-service reliability come together to define modern flight.
You will play a key role in ensuring complex avionics systems operate seamlessly, safely, and in full compliance with global aviation standards-directly influencing aircraft performance, safety, and certification readiness.
Role Summary & Impact
In this role, you will support the development, integration, certification, and in-service performance of advanced avionics systems on next-generation business aircraft. You will act as a critical technical authority ensuring that systems such as flight control, navigation, communications, displays, and data management operate as an integrated, certified, and reliable aircraft ecosystem.
Your work will directly support aircraft airworthiness, regulatory compliance, and real-world operational performance-bridging design, certification, production, and field support.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Lead and support integration of avionics systems including:
    • Autoflight systems
    • Communications (VHF, HF, SATCOM, datalink)
    • Navigation systems (FMS, GPS, ILS, TCAS, IRS, weather radar, etc.)
    • Flight deck displays (EFIS, EICAS, HUD, SVS)
    • Maintenance, recording, and data systems (CVR, FDR, OMS, IMS, AHMS)
  • Define, manage, and validate system and subsystem requirements for safety, certification, and performance compliance
  • Collaborate with suppliers and cross-functional engineering teams to ensure seamless aircraft integration
  • Participate in certification testing, inspections, audits, and compliance demonstrations
  • Review and approve certification compliance reports in accordance with approved certification plans
  • Support aircraft airworthiness compliance with applicable regulations and standards
  • Approve or recommend certification plans to regulatory authorities
  • Provide technical support to Final Assembly Line and in-service aircraft troubleshooting and resolution
  • Support continuous improvement of avionics engineering tools, processes, and workflows
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Software, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent
  • Strong experience in avionics systems design, integration, testing, and certification
  • Working knowledge of civil aviation regulations (FAR Part 25 or equivalent)
  • Familiarity with certification authorities (Transport Canada, FAA, EASA)
  • Experience with avionics systems such as:
    • Autoflight systems
    • Navigation and communication systems
    • Flight management systems (FMS)
    • Indicating/recording and onboard maintenance systems
  • Knowledge of industry certification and safety standards:
    • DO-178, DO-160, DO-254
    • ARP4754, ARP4761
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Excellent problem-solving, planning, and prioritization abilities
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Willingness to travel as required
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current or candidate status for DAD/DAR delegation (Transport Canada AWM 505)
  • Experience working directly with regulatory authorities (TCCA, FAA, or EASA)
  • Knowledge of Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) architectures
  • Familiarity with aircraft certification processes and compliance strategies
  • Experience supporting production aircraft and in-service troubleshooting
  • Strong understanding of ARINC standards and system architecture integration

Pay Details: $81.46 to $117.26 per hour
