Gateway Terminal is a leading terminal on the East Coast strategically located in the Port of New London, Connecticut, providing turnkey vertically integrated logistics services for dry bulk, liquid bulk, and breakbulk products.



Part-Time ILA Placement


SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Responsibilities include general laborer duties including but not limited to loading and unloading trucks, equipment operation, and sanitation and housekeeping.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Warehouse sanitation including cleaning the dock, or room areas
  2. General warehouse housekeeping and sanitation including ice removal, sweeping cleanup of dock freezer and or parking area operating scrubbing machine, and aiding in the general organization of the warehouse
  3. Desalting, or slatting of product
  4. Loading and unloading of containers via hand, or forklift
  5. Pallet inventory control and organization
  6. Additional duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  1. Must be eligible to work in the United States without a Visa sponsorship
  2. Must be 18 years or older
  3. Ability to effectively operate independently with minimal supervision
  4. Willing to work a flexible schedule
  5. Ability to read, comprehend and carry out simple instructions from oral instructions or written correspondence
  6. Must be able to work in a cold/hot environment
  7. Detail-oriented and accurate
  8. Ability to work overtime during the week, and on weekends
  9. Able to become forklift certified

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to stand; walk; use hands, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The work environment involves hazards, risks, or discomforts typical of working around with or around machinery with exposed moving parts, arrant chemicals, heavy equipment, extreme heights, or abusive or hostile clientele and patients. Exposure to disagreeable weather conditions and excessive levels of temperature, ventilation, lighting, and sound is normal. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
