Job description

Description

Certified Veterinary Technician – Exotics Enthusiasts Encouraged to Apply
Andover Animal Hospital – Andover, MA
Pay range: $24-30/hr (DOE)
$2,000 sign-on bonus (use it for snacks, scrubs, or snacks you spill on your scrubs — we won’t judge)
If your dream workday involves a bearded dragon named Sir Hiss-a-Lot, a parrot with strong opinions, and a guinea pig who demands lap time before diagnostics, then welcome home.
At Andover Animal Hospital, we’re a 10-doctor, AAHA-accredited, full-service practice in beautiful Andover, MA. We care for dogs, cats, birds, exotics, and pocket pets — basically, if it fits through the front door (and sometimes even if it doesn’t), we’ll do our best to help it. We take our medicine seriously… but ourselves? Not so much.

What you’ll do:
You’ll be an essential part of our medical dream team — collaborating with doctors, comforting clients, and using all your technical skills (plus your sense of humor). You’ll handle things like:
  • Diagnostic sample collection
  • IV catheter placement (bonus points if you can do it while calming a nervous ferret)
  • Venipuncture
  • Radiology (including the flighty, slithery, and occasionally dramatic)
  • Anesthesia and pain management
  • Dental radiographs and cleanings
  • General wizardry with exotic species

Who you are:
  • A Certified Veterinary Technician (or have equivalent experience and some serious skills)
  • Experienced (2+ years preferred) and always up for learning new tricks
  • Unflappable — even when the iguana decides to scale the microscope
  • Compassionate, communicative, and the kind of teammate who brings calm to chaos
  • Able to laugh off the occasional “poop in pocket” surprise
  • Emotionally ready to fall in love with a rabbit named Biscuit

Why you’ll love it here:
  • $2,000 sign-on bonus
  • Competitive pay and full benefits
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid time off that you’re encouraged to actually take
  • Employee Assistance Program (because superheroes need support too)
  • Discounts for your own furry, feathered, or scaled family members
  • A team that supports each other, works hard, and laughs harder

Andover Animal Hospital is a proud United Veterinary Care partner — meaning you’ll enjoy all the perks of a larger network while working in a hospital that still feels like home. Think: strong medicine, great teamwork, and the occasional shared snack in between patients (we promise we wash our hands first).
If you’re ready to join a team that values skill, laughter, and the occasional exotic adventure, we can’t wait to meet you!
